Yes, it'll damage it if you put the hot glue directly on the wall. If you put it on the back of the picture and wait for it to cool completely before it touches the wall, it'll be fine.

I tried the crayon painting one, but when i finally put the crayon in the glue gun, it completely ruined the glue gun. The crayon got stuck in the glue gun too
