I love this channel and I'm so glad you touched on this subject today. I often feel like a bit of a creep being usually the only man commenting on most sewing videos. But I f*ing LOVE sewing. To me, it's a bold, powerful and possibly very masculine act of total self-creation. I've learned that slimming my dress shirts to fit the taper of my torso makes a huge difference. So far I've only done this by adding darts to existing shirts but you have inspired me to make a dress shirt from scratch with the right fit everywhere. That could be pretty phenomenal. I have a Kangol hat a bit like the dapper cap and I usually get compliments. I'd never really thought about making a hoodie but I really should 'cause I've got a long-ass neck and so I've never had a hood that actually fits over my head. But my real love is short shorts. I'm not afraid to say it. They make me feel sexy af. I will never forget the day I went to Joann's and bought my first new sewing machine, hemmed a new pair of men's jeans to the desired length, spray tanned myself with some solution from Amazon and my HVLP spray gun, and walked out my front door. It was the day I became myself.

Thanks for some great new ideas. I’ll definitely be looking at the flat cap and hoodie for my husband. His favourite pattern that I make for him is the free Sunday V-neck t-shirt from Friday Pattern Company. He prefers a v-neck over a crew neck, so it’s perfect for him. It comes in a large size range and I think the pattern was intended to be for all genders. Size down one for a less over-sized fit.

I love the patterns you found. I have kids and grandkids that would love to live in a Tee shirt, hoodie, and PJ pants so this is great for Free! I think making ties for men would be awesome since they are so expensive. You could use really nice fabric and save a lot of money but we're a more like hoodie family. That's nice to help promote your friends video.

I looked at the hoodie pattern but gave up - I'd have to lie and say the hips are bigger than the waist to get the pattern. in reality the waist is bigger than the hips (guy I was going to make it for has a 60 inch waist and 52 inch hips and a 50 inch chest) do not see the point is getting a pattern I then need to learn to redraft to fit, even if it's 'free'.
@Penguinandpear2 жыл бұрын
All patterns need redrafting to some extent. They are a starting point, a generic template. Some need more some need less depending on our body types. For someone with a bigger waist than hips I’d recommend drafting your own patterns.
