that's very informative but i never could understand the not eating of non veg on specific days, to me it was taught that these are the days of god, but as i grew i figured and questioned that all the days are of god then why do we eat on those other days which are of that other god. The understanding that i developed is with these rituals of not eating on half of the specific days of the week we are restricting the amount of meat we consume... But this is what i think please enlighten me if there are any other reasons.

10:10 Yeah, we mostly have "ala carte" menu in all restaurants ..with the exception of Thalis of course, which only some restaurants offer :) Also some continental restaurants here still serve western-style menus. I live in Calcutta where there are a couple of very popular continental restaurants that serve "table d'hote" menu, with western-style, individual meal dishes only (very rare in India otherwise i think). Dishes like Chicken Strogenoff, chicken ala Kiev, Steak dishes, sizzlers etc are most popular at these restaurants. So they come as a full meal on the plate, with the side dishes included (baked potato, some saute-ed veggies etc) Anyone from Calcutta would know exactly what I'm talking about (and be salivating right now :D ). If you're a foodie, Calcutta is THE place to visit (especially for street food!) p.s.- thanks for replying to my comment on the hindi video :)

Sharing food is really an indispensable part of Indian culture....it starts from family, school n carries on...its been 8 months since I came to Canada,n I really miss it....I tried it here but I guess ....others didnt like it much....i remember having lunch break with my colleagues who turned out to be dear friends too....n no one bothered who took whose lunch box....we ate together n laughed together.....I really miss it here.....Canada is a lovely place,People r nice too but still I miss my home town.

In Indian ways, you wash your hands, and also after you finish the meal. After a meal you rinse your mouth with water to clean and dislodge food particles. Some people chew fennel after a meal, that leaves a flavorful mouth at the same time fennel had fibers can contribute sort of scrubbing, cleaning effects. Eating with fingers, wow many many nerve endings get stimulated, you can feel the enhanced taste, warmth thermal properties and feel all kinds of textures, some people just by touch can gauge, feel proportions of many spices. Also supposed to be relatively quite while eating to let whole body feel the foods, and not supposed to distract yourself with gadgets or newspaper, etc. on and on...

Johanna so good to see you embrace and learn the Indian wisdom on diet and food habits...it's endearing to see u use words like haldi and masala for a foreign audience who won't know it's spices and turmeric u are referring to....😍 Very sweet and just for the record I really enjoyed my stay in Finland last year...maybe I should do cross over video

Paljon kiitoksia! But our summers (Sweden) are like Indian winters! I have been making Indian food most of my life, I eat chana dhal or aloo palak at least once a week. Making naan bread today to eat with my chickpea/potato curry.

Yes true some country use hands with food that respects cultures customs so in USA dont do that use fork and spoon and knife for food eat because different culture dont touch on food unclean for reasons germs if touch food they afraid of that but nothing wrong with that use hands with food is same no different. My native Indian Cherokee (America) USA use hands with food. It is cultures customs almost same India
