I like doing that as well, it's like defying destiny by preventing a characters supposed to be death, in oblivion there was a mod called enhanced quest roleplaying but the latest version was incompatible with the latest official oblivion patch and someone named CDM made a mod called emperor's plight where Uriel and I guess martin survived oblivion. I really hope the next Elder scrolls can take into account alternate paths more instead of radiant retrieve quest item because dragon age origins really had immersive quests that can offer multiple paths and different people can die or live

Some can be saved, some simply cannot because it's part of the story. But for Paarthurnax, there's a lot of reasoning as to why you should spare him. Without him, you wouldn't have been able to learn Dragonrend Shout. Without him, mortals would never have been able to become Dragonborn in the Mythic Era. Most of all, he's been trying to repent all these centuries for it. And yet all the Blades care about is any excuse just to kill a dragon. Only focusing on his crimes, that's just typical human behavior, condemning someone just because of past mistakes. And like Master Arngeir described them, "Their reckless arrogance knows no bounds." When the Blades first came to Tamriel, it wasn't simply about killing dragons, they wanted to conquer the land for themselves. But thanks to a certain Dragonborn at that time, that ambition was put to a halt. However, the Blades used their sworn loyalty as a sneaky way just to keep up their dragon-killing ways. Not to mention the way Delphine thinks how power should be used, calling the Greybeards cowardly for not using it. If that kind of delusional behavior doesn't convince you, nothing will. Because that sort of ambitious thinking is exactly what cost the Blades their lives during the Great War. The only shame is Bethesda not giving us the choice of wiping the rest of the Blades out. Not like Fallout 4 where you CAN wipe out a faction. I just wish that choice could be hard-coded & updated into the game.

100% should've been able to remind Delphine that the Blades serve the Dragonborn, and that's me, so I have authority over her and expel her from the order for her insubordination. Also should've been able to show Ulfric the Thalmar dossier on him proving the Thalmar are happy to see Skyrim weakened by civil war. Tell him how in each imperial city Talos worship exists, including Whiterun where a man openly preaches him. I think Ulfric should've seen the error of his ways and sought peace, but Galmar sees Ulfric as betraying Nord values and kills him. This way the Dragonborn should've been able to stop the civil war not by joining either side, but by realizing their destiny was so much larger than this petty political squabble. Like I'm the Dragonborn dude, you shouldn't be giving me low military ranks and quests to go capture a fort for you. I should be giving you quests. I'm trying to defeat Alduin. I can't be bothered to deliver an axe to some city. Have a courier do that. Couriers can deliver messages anywhere at any time.

Modders should be working on like making massive body parts for characters, not having basic world-building and choice in what is supposed to be an RPG. its not just dragonrend, he teaches you the meaning of the words you're shouting so you can more deeply understand the power behind what you're saying, which makes the shouts _stronger_ . Partysnacks is my friend and Mentor, he has worked hard not to fall to his nature, and if he could teach the others, the ones still young and willing to learn to do the same, the future of a peaceful coexistence with dragons could very well be possible. His oldest brother, TWICE. and after he is beaten he tries to have the other dragons follow the Way of the Voice and ignore their draconic urge for dominance. Delphine on the other hand, she says she’s loyal to the Blades, who are in turn Loyal to the Dragonborn. But orders you about and makes demands and ultimatums of the one they serve. Completely ignoring that Tiber Septim, the Dragonborn she often praises, ALSO had a dragon ally. Nafaalilargus/Nahfahlaar the Red Dragon. Delphine deserves to die. Slowly turn the Greybeards into the next Dragon Priests, wait for the LAST Dragonborn to die, then his true nature of Ambition Overlord Cruelty can come out with no one able to stop him and no more Dragonborns to put him down. There are numerous texts already that help explain why it is that Red Dragons are the ones that can be trusted/made allies of. @@philosophicaljay3449 By that logic, a good Dragonborn should end themself after dealing with the three big bads of the game because they themself have a high potential for evil (Paarthurnax points out that the Dragonborn has just as much an innate desire for evil as the average dragon or smth like that). See the fallacy there? There’s no guarantee Paarthurnax is gonna turn. He is tempted, but consistently for a long time he has denied it again and again and is clearly going to keep it up, even as he teaches more dragons his new way of life. Edit: oh yeah I forgot to mention that if he dies, ALL the remaining dragons are gonna start problems and consistently slaughter the people of Tamriel. This is completely ignoring the fact that the Dragonborn is literally the only one that can truly kill a dragon. Basically, unless you kill Paarthurnax, the blades and every other human in Skyrim has to hope that either Paarthurnax, an immortal flying tank that admits that his inborn nature is to kill and enslave lesser beings, never changes his mind, or that the Dragonborn happens to be there when he does. You are asking blades to trust that a sworn enemy has completely overcome his nature and will never succumb to temptation. You can believe whatever you want about Paarthurnax, but don't pretend like the blades are being unreasonable.

You don't even need to slow Time to save Margret. In my first run i simply saw that Guy sneaking up on her with a knive and since i spawned so close to him, i only had to swing with my Wuthraad Axe, the one from the Companions and just when he was already swinging for the kill i got him and literally executed him. First i thought it's like in Solitude, where i jumped up to save the Guy that was about to be chopped of and i would make the whole Town angry but instead as it turned out, i really saved Margret and even got a thank you. Made me feel like an actual Hero. Which makes it even better, when you try to play as good as possible.

Orthorn has other ways of surviving. You can tell him to leave the fort and he'll go out the way you came in, or you can (with some skill) keep him alive when killing the Caller and he'll follow you out. He'll eventually show up in Winterhold if he lives. He only showed up at the inn for me but people say he'll appear at the College if you just leave him in the cell. No idea how he'd escape that cell with a lever he can't reach, no living people around, and with it located deep in a ruin away from any civilization, though.

I assume he's been playing the long game to be the most powerful dragon and thus forcing the others to hear his thuum. He started a cult to keep the voice alive among men, knows how to get dragon rend, and guide you into killing the only dragon more powerful than him.. knowing he himself cannot thus making him the highest ranking. Is he playing the wise old dragon, or as the other dragons suggest, will he bring in a new tyranny of "the voice". Dragons are long lived and patient.

For starters I never re-create the Blades, their quests are pointless and I get better stuff by juggling alchemy, smithing and enchanting, why should I care for the guys that failed to honor the Septim bloodline... my Dragonborn will kick the Thalmor back to the Islands and sink the darn place with the help of Partysnacks, Odhavig and Durnhevir... I mean, they can't even close an Oblivion gate on their own.

*Here is another one:* When the dark brotherhood story begins with you in the shack having to kill a victim. You can kill the dark brotherhood member and it starts a quest of hunting all of them. You not only save that victim NPC, you technically save all the others that you were meant to hunt if you join them!!!

Margret is a spy for the Imperial Legion investigating the Silver-Bloods. With her alive, the chances for the ethnic Reachmen to gain protection and enforcement of fair treatment like the Orsimer did increase. Also keep in mind that Dibella chose a Reachman girl to be her sybil. And recall that the Forsworn kidnapped her, yet have a shrine to her. You could say they were defiling her shrine and trying to corrupt her sybil, but I think they just wanted Dibella's help. Sure, the Forsworn do traditionally worship Daedra like Hircine, but if Dibella chose one of their kind to carry her blessing, some of them could see that as a good thing. What're they gonna do? Kill one of their own who has the insight of a god? Sure the Daedra could argue that they want that kid dead because she's an agent of the Divines, but at least SOME of the Forsworn have to have questioned why an Aedric god would bless a Reachman child in the first place. Keep in mind a lot of Reachmen join the Forsworn only because they don't like how they're treated by the Nords. Not because they're die-hard Daedra worshippers. The Imperial aligned Jarl actually doesn't mind the Reachmen. He sees them as regular people and definitely distinguishes them from the radical Forsworn. Even though the Forsworn killed his father when he tried to make peace with them, he's not as vocal about his frustrations than someone like Ulfric. This whole area is filled with hope despite how corrupt it is.

I always save Margaret and Silas (you must get rid of the Troll near the bottom of the temple stairs before you go to the alter, or it will kill Silas as he leaves). Also Hroggar and Orthorn. And I don't kill Parthunax. Others you can save include the hagraven who is imprisoned in her own tower, but you have to keep up with her because the usurping hagraven has followers and they'll all get her if you aren't there. I seem to remember there are a small number of others as well. There's a Dark Elf on Solstheim posessed by a daedra at the "dig" and I seem to remember another mage on Solstheim too who is attemting a dangerous magical experiment.

you can let alva live as well , just go straight to the cave before she comes there and kill all the vampires in their layer. if you didn't kill alva in the house , she will physically walk to the vampire layer and sleep there. but if your fast enough she can be spared. i do not know if it's a bug or not but she'll still go to the morthal and sleep in the cave.

The centrist path: once you unlock Sky Haven, get the unemployed bums to join the Blades and do a handful of hunts and Esbern quests, THEN continue with the story and don't kill Parthurnax. Margaret died the very first time I have played Skyrim, but on every subsequent playthrough I was a stealth archer with maxed archery and stealth during my first visit to Markarth (my dislike for that city is great and I'm avoiding it for as long as possible) and neutralized her attacker with ease. And the Caller that wants Orthorn... She is too annoying to choose her over him xd

I saved both Hroggar and Alva in one game, Hroggar goes about his work at the mill and Alva continues to live in Movarth's Lair I also save Avienda in Windhelm, Asta in Eldergleam Sanctuary, and Medresi Dran in Avunjunde. You need a follower mod for Madresi and Asta and Alva, but Avienda you just need to kill Calisto as soon as he pulls out his dagger. Side note: I forget how fuckin' ugly Skyrim NPC's are in vanilla, thank God for Modders!!!

@@iainmawhinney8867 that totally makes sense. More often than not for some reason when I get over to that area I am at a higher level and by that point I a dealing with some not so weak Vampires. Heck by the level I get over there I am worried about the random vampires that attack you because of the Danwgard DLC. They get NASTY in certain areas like the farm around Rorikstead (sp?), and Dawnstar.

With mods, you can get the vampire grip while in normal form and I normally just grab the attackers with the grip and fling them away. Its cool when you walking through the forest and see a spider chasing a fox and you throw the spider off a cliff into a river 😂

In my many playthroughs, the only way I could stop Weylin from killing Margaret at the Markarth marketplace is by a fast and well placed arrow. You could not possible get that near with a sword before he stans Margaret as you are entering Markarth for the first time.

You can also "save" Vilod (juniper mead dude Rolaf had a crush on) if you return to Helgen a few days after the escape you can find the special mead upstairs in Vilod's house. Never could find Vilod or Torolf. I believe they were not coded after Helgen and it's possible to get a glitch where they just die instantly no matter if you "save" them. Haming and an unnamed soldier are the only one who lived in Helgen we can meet later in the game. Haming lives with his grandfather Froki. The soldier gets to be a junkie in Red Water Den. Ingrid (the woman on the porch watching us getting decapitated) can also be "saved", but like everyone else, dies after the collapse we encountered in Helgen Keep.(this seems to be the moment all inhabitants of Helgen are removed from the game. In my case trying to "save" the people from Helgen resulted in a glitch where they will just be on the ground after Alduin shows up. All new games are affected with it and I have tried uninstalling patches and add-ons, but I can't solve it.

I tried saving the guy that will be executed in Solitude. He will always die whatever you do. I observed that he will just be stabbed if you disrupted the execution by any of the guards but if somehow you were fast enough to kill the guards and takedown the essential character, Roggvir just drops dead without reason...

A few things. 1: Spamming the Pacify Spell (or using a Scroll of Harmony from Drevis) will kind of break Weylin's AI. And he'll just stand there for a few seconds, then he puts away his Dagger and the Guards have at him. This keeps you from getting a count to your assault number in the Game's Menu (Something that bothers me greatly on Moral Characters). A Similar Trick can be used on Grelod if you intend to destroy the Brotherhood without "Murdering" anyone. Quiet Casting + Fury while undetected turns her hostile... and by hostile I mean running like a bitch despite being FRENZIED, and then you can kill her without the Assault or Murder number going up in the Menu! 2: There's a way to get rid of the Paarthurnax kill quest without actually killing him (this is perfect for Switch players who don't have access to Mods). Get the Quest from Delphine or Esbern *_BEFORE_* riding Ohdaviing to Skuldafn, go through the area as normal (a fun bonus challenge I do is trying to take down Nahkriin fast enough at the right moment so I get to keep the Staff, it's sweet looking), and upon entering Sovngarde the quest will completely disappear from the Quest Log! 3: Illusion Magic (or Voice of the Emperor if you're playing an Imperial) can also save Hroggar in Morthal. If he happens to spot you when you're looking for Alva's Journal, just cast the basic calm spell. He'll have the same voice lines after the quest.

Skyrim was a good game. The writing could have been better for a couple of the quest lines. Besides that, I just wish it was bigger. Now that Bethesda can’t produce good games and went all in with paid mods, I guess I can at least replay it once more after I wait for several DLC size mods to release.

Apparently, you can save Susanna the Wicked by joining the Dark Brotherhood. If you are fast enough. Get the quest to kill Nilsine. Eliminate Nilsine and Tova will eliminate herself, and then the quest Blood on the Ice can't start. It's not a brilliant trade: Susanna can't hold a conversation, and you lose the necromancer's amulet forever.

I actually got screwed out of my last steam achievement because I spared Silus Vesuis but needed basically every single daedric artifact in the game. you can save the soldier during dragon's attack too but it is difficult to do so you have to turn the soldier to the chicken to save his 's life

When I first played skyrim I was a softy. Always was. I dont kill those who dont deserve it. At the time however I didnt know that the mythic dawn that silus was a big fanatic was was a bad cult kind of thing that caused the oblivion crisis. So I spared him cause I was denying a cruel god satisfaction and saving an innocent man. Years later I learn about it and in my recent playthrough when I played again cause I got the pc version I killed him and if I remember correctly went as far as to put him in a black soul gem As for Paarthurnax I NEVER killed him so I dont know what the ending is like without him. Do you just spawn at the throat of the world and there's no cutscene and you can just walk around freely?
