This is awesome! I purchased Publisher Rocket back in December and have been spending a lot of time redoing and updating key words. Spending many many hours doing key word searches had kinda sorta had a general idea similar to this form in the back of my mind but I was hesitant to try it because it was counter to the “group wisdom” in the KDP larger community. Oh no, I was waiting for you to give us an example. I have bought your publisher rocket, and absolutely love it. I had selected a category in my mind that I was confident was going to rock, but when I used the keyword rocket I saw that there is a lot of demand, but also competition is extremely high and for an unknown author, that is not the best category for me to start with. So I REALLY appreciate the software and how it has helped shape my strategic decision. I might circle back to this category later, but not to start with.

Probably the clearest info to date on keywords, cheers! I have a question though, I've just created a book aimed at "for him" ie for women buying for their male partners, and narrowed down all the keywords from the Rocket results to suit (for him, for men, for husbands, etc) But the same books are appearing on other Rocket competition results for "for girlfriends" "for wives" etc. So they must have put all the 'female' words in the back end as well as the 'male' words, which to my mind is diluting the 'male' ones which I think you said in the video we should avoid. Do you think they must have chucked them into slots 5,6 &7? I'm trying to be more focussed on my keywords as I think I have been too vague in the past trying to catch as many eyeballs as possible.
@Kindlepreneur4 жыл бұрын
Could be. Or it could be amazon indexing them for it anyways testing to see if that works well as well. When a book starts showing that it is getting sales and succeeding in the Amazon store for its target keywords, Amazon starts automatically indexing you for more terms.

My clarify question for this video, "Do we use the text box for only ONE long tail keyword phrase - OR - can we include two long tail keyword phrases in one text box?" If Amazon reads each of the 7 Text Fields as BROAD searches, then WHY use long tail keyword phrases in the 7 Text Fields at all? Trying to understand by putting ONLY one long keyword phrase per box is helpful to RANK for that long tail keyword or not. Thanks for your video channel. Great video, Dave. Two questions for me, please? Through the SPF course, I learnt how to put together keyword phrases. I have researched some of my own through Publisher Rocket and come up with a few phrases with one different word in each. For example: Historical WW2 family saga and Historical war family saga. Is it okay to use both and the other combos I've come up with putting them into my 7 keyword boxes, or should I only be sticking to one? My second question, when a keyword or phrase has been entered into the Amazon search box displaying the search results, does the first book appearing mean that it has the greatest number of sales than the rest listed therefore Amazon awarding it's 1st place ranking? If so, it would then be pretty difficult to rank high if say 3000 books have been indexed for that particular keyword, right? Thanks Dave.
@Kindlepreneur4 жыл бұрын
1. Yes 2. It means that book is benefitting from that keyword the most. Does not necessarily mean that book makes the most.

Hi Dave, great vid. On indexing + ranking, does the same thing apply to Amz adverts as well? Ie, if you have a campaign with fewer but more relevant keywords, over time you will rank for fewer keywords but index higher for those words but with a campaign with lots of keywords that are more loosely relevant, you may rank across more keywords but with worse indexing? Just a thought I had now as I'm trying to gain more organic traction on my books. Let me know if you have any thoughts - Thanks!
@Kindlepreneur3 жыл бұрын
I don't have any hard data to support this, so my response is based no what I've experienced with my own: I don't think so. I haven't seen any indication that a few highly selective AMS keywords helps your AMS keyword rankings and impressions.
@ErickMertz4 жыл бұрын
Great video, thanks for it. I have a quick clarifying question though... @7:55 you say, "Use 3-4 of the boxes..." Do you mean, use 3-4 of the boxes for variations on "Epic Fantasy Dark Romance"...? Like, Dark Epic Romance Fantasy... Fantasy Dark Epic Romance... OR, do you mean, use 3-4 of the boxes for other properly researched, related terms to Epic Fantasy Dark Romance and then use the rest of them for general terminology?
@Kindlepreneur4 жыл бұрын
Yes, use the specific phrase you want inside the 3-4...and don't try to fill those boxes up with more words or characters.
@ErickMertz4 жыл бұрын
OK, so in that example, the terms in those three to four boxes would be as varied as EPIC FANTASY DARK ROMANCE in one, DRAGON WARRIOR DUNGEON in another, repeating nothing, meanwhile in the other boxes is more chaotic and potentially repetitive?

Hi Dave, I have a question that Google doesn't seem to be helping with & I'm guessing you'll be able to answer this. I'm about to self-publish for the first time, and although I have done plenty of keyword research & am happy with the choices, I'm confused with how Amazon arranges them. So in box one, I have the words British Ghost Story (among others) & in box seven, I have Paranormal Thriller. If I want my book to be found among results when people search for British Paranormal Thriller, would I also have to add British to box seven? Or by having the British in box one and Paranormal Thriller in box seven, will it still show up the same as if those three words were in the same box? I've read two articles that offer conflicting information on this, and I'm reluctant to proceed until I know for sure. If you could help me with this, I'd be most grateful :) Thanks
