Anyone that owns dogs will agee with this feeling of companionship that we pet owners have with our cats and dogs. Having not ridden road bikes for a while, I found that I still had my road bike handling skills intact. More importantly, I still relive the sheer joy of riding a road bike. Purchasing music is an investment in pleasure. I look up lyrics and use my knowledge of music structure to find out how a song is written. As long as you are inquisitive and like learning, you never be alone. As Francis Ford Coppola said, learning is one of the few things in life that doesn’t bite back. Meditation now is adding a new level to this. It doesn’t effect me immediately but when practicing daily it sneaks in a sort of calm center to my existence.

My friend, I'm an English learner and because I'm blind I've chosen this kinds of podcast to learn English. What I try to mean is that in my language alone, solitude or loneliness only can be translate as soledad. We, Spanish speakers, lose a lot because we don't have this difference. All of us want to be little alone in order to have peace to think, or reading philosophy or I don't know, for the simple fact of being at peace. On the other hand, I think that no body in the entire World, wants to feel lonely. I read "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez, of course I've read it several times in my language before, and I think the translation was excellent, but I disagree with the title. To my humble point of view, the title "cien años de soledad" should have been translated as One hundred years of loneliness. If you've read it, What do you think? I apologize for my awful English and for bothering you. Take care, and have a great life.

Schopenhauer picked up where Immanul Kant left off. His conclusions are a result of this line of thinking, not Buddhism. With that said, Schopenhauer was delighted when he learned that very similar thinking had been discovered in Ancient India. You have to remember that Schopenhauer wrote his philosophy in his 20s but was ignored right up until his 70s, so it was probably comforting for him during that stretch to know that at least the Indians get it.

I agree with the solitude philosophy. Sometimes I just want to be alone. Not because I'm mad or upset or sad. I just want to be alone. For example, instead of playing an actual basketball game with other people, I can choose to do an individual workout, shooting drills. Or instead of going to the gym to work out, I can choose to run 2 miles alone. Or instead of dining with someone in a restaurant, I can choose to go to Starbucks and read a book, alone. Wanting to be alone from time to time doesn't mean I'm lonely. Solitude is a choice.

We don't "see the world as it really is" We see the world _as _*_we_*_ really are!_ - Life is only tastes *bitter* for people who've been raised to believe that 'life is meant to taste sweet all the time'

When you are with the right person and under the right circumstances, post-nut clarity does not have to be a thing.

Well explained . 👍👍 As others have said Schopenhauer was not pessimist but more a naturalistic, not to be bored , physical pain cannot be avoided but as we treat it with medicine so our other pains with our efforts like meditation a walk read and like that Involve in activity other then your job.

The more you enjoy solitude, the more ridiculous it seems watching others torment themselves and each other, fighting over tawdry baubles and trinkets and striving towards ends which they've never thought about, let alone understood.

3:00, "our freedom exists only in our solitude, when all the outside noise is shut down" what's the point of shutting the noise outside our minds if our minds itself creates its own noise? the answer to that is actually as is, freedom is to think without having restraints, wandering in a state of questions, and seeking through the domain of consciousness in hope of satiating the questions within, but we can never be satisfied because our "will has no purpose other than to keep itself going for the sake of keeping itself going"

If Philosophers would stop labeling everything either good or bad, they could actually make meaningful progress. Instead of saying Happiness is good and suffering is bad it should be acknowledged that both are neither good or bad, rather merely “essential” to our existence. We should embrace each equally and understand these beliefs/traits are part of us to ultimately help us grow and progress. And becoming addicted to neither is truly the key. I tell my kids if there were two paths in life: one being easy and the other hard, pray you get the hard one, as the easy one will lead to a life of boredom and nothingness.

I am not sure why Arthur Schopenhauer deserves a dark reputation. There is a lot of constructive thinking in his ideas.
