I've found it hard to do a large purge from my closet, and I really do have TOO many items that I can't even wear all of them each year. Over the last several years, I have given away items in small groupings, to different people as they have mentioned they would want some of my items. I have also sent many items to ThredUp, which has been a great experience. I'm finally getting to a better place with the items that I have and it encourages me to continue to get the items down even more when I'm able to see everything that I have better.
@Living.minimal2 жыл бұрын
That is awesome to here hun. It’s ok to declutter at a slower pace I actually advice to do that. This way your not getting rid of items you might want or need a couple of weeks or months from now.
@theashleybclay2 жыл бұрын
@@Living.minimal Yes! My thoughts exactly. I’m always worried I will want something even when I haven’t worn it in years. So, I tell myself that if I haven’t worn it in years and am wearing other items, I have those and don’t need the item that I’m not wearing. 😁

I feel like minimalism can apply to the things we watch online too and lately its so cluttered on Netflix and hulu and all those channels that i never end up finishing what i start. Thank you for the reusable tips! I started using reusable eye make-up remover wipes a few years ago and I feel much better knowing I'm not chucking 1-2 disposable cotton rounds per day in the trash anymore. They're small but they add up over the years for someone like me who wears eye make-up most days. Plus the reusable ones are small enough to include in any laundry load that I'd be doing anyway.

Loved this video Kyra! Do you have any advice about getting bored easily with items? No matter what I purchase, in the moment I thinks it’s what I want but then after a few days/weeks I want something new. It’s a big reason I follow minimalism to get away from this mindset, but I still struggle. Any advice is appreciated 🙏
@kilinka0072 жыл бұрын
I used to have that same problem! One thing that’s definitely helped me was my 1-month-rule… so basically if I want something (clothing, tech etc.) I won‘t purchase it right away, but instead wait about a month. If I‘m still thinking about that item I will get it, if not I probably have forgotten about it anyways 😂
@mariah6602 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using Nuuly and I really like it. You rent 6 items from top brands for $88 a month. I know it’s spending money, but I just found that I was spending so much on new clothes and this helped me wear new items every month and then return them after a month. You’re not collecting anything, just switching up your wardrobe every month using the subscription.
@jacks98162 жыл бұрын
@@kilinka007 yes! And to add on to that, you could consider making a wishlist with the date…wait a month (or more) and once the time comes write in the resolution. It will be satisfying to see you no longer felt the urge to buy it! Or if it’s still something you want, then you know it was more than just an impulse 💛

Yea I think it’s weird some families have like 10 different soap shampoo conditioners shave creams & everything for each person lol at our house everyone used the same thing. & yes we all have our favorites but we always shopped by price & sales because it all gets the job done lol & yes now that we have kids I just wash a full hamper every few days instead of separating.
@Living.minimal2 жыл бұрын
I think in the US we are taught to just have things for us and us only. Idk why but I’ve notice how selfish I was specially with my products back then. My sisters and I could’ve easily shared clothes, shampoo etc but we where taught not to and what’s mine is mine 🤦🏻♀️. Such a weird thing to teach kids but anyways it’s true a family of 5 or 10 can use the shampoo and conditioner as long as it doesn’t cause any irritation or hair problems. I also wash my clothes with everything mixed expect my whites, those I need to wash separately.

Kyra when you said fetch was addicting I was like sure it is . And before I finished your video I downloaded it and already scanned like 12 receipts 😂😂 it’s addicting and the noise makes it much more fun to download. I like Ibotta but I feel like fetch is faster with talking points unlike Ibotta if I’m being honest. Some apps are worth having like store apps such as Walmart/ Home Depot/ lowes etc if you frequent them often since it helps you finding an item without help and you scan items to check prices or if it’s in stock etc. Love it . I do dry certain items and others I dry on the rack since it’s more effective to dry heavier bulky items . But beware because in smaller places it can cause a lot of humidity and cause mold so make sure to air out your place . Your sisters should look into electric company programs like equal pay and low income help . There’s a lot of programs that help lower the bill for gas/ electricity even cable or internet service. Saves you a bunch and some still offer fridge replacement for an energy saver fridge at no cost to the customer. We only have electricity where we live right now and our bill went to $320 and I about died when I saw it because it’s the most expensive I’ve ever had a bill and this was just one bill. But luckily I was able to get the equal pay and I have one solid payment each month and end of year they charge me if I over used electricity which is fine because it’s one bill unlike $300/$400 a month . I now pay under $200
