Hey builders, here an reminder: Details doesn't mean it's automatically good, keep that in mind. ;) Too much details can also cause a lot of lag in your maps, of course you can add some, but don't put too many.

Many textures (mixed ones included), many shadow blocks, many parts (aka some parts from decorations) or even many blocks and many lights can cause lag in your map

Exactly. For decorations, I usually just use normal decorations or basic offsetted blocks, like placing thin corner walls on a slab so they go into a wall for a long bench with a back. It's not bad at all to be simple. Just do what you have patience for and take your time building. I see so many videos of people making these crazy maps in 2 months. I'm still working on the same map after 2 years, and it's only part 1 of 3.

Don’t worry ArticAsylum I am actually a great builder myself too I have made a whole game called baseplate concepts where I have recreated or created events and some from piggy like the mall lasers. But also I used some events from other games such as branched realites outbreak mode and flee the facility death jails. But some original things I have done are like for say mode only doors where you need to select a certain mode in order for it to work for example the door the open (but it could be any linked event of your choosing) I have also made an end timer infection where right before the clock is done ticking you turn infected as a result of you dying (I was going to use this for my Bunny CFC, but I had big problems like not keeping the player data after dying and respawning and it only infects the player who triggers it)

Ive only ever had people help me with building maps once. I'm still not the best at making Piggy Maps, but I've noticed how much better they can be when it's only me building. The only time I'll probably ever get help with building is if I need build mode events exclusive to seasons I don't have unlocked. Most of my detailing isn't the best in the world, but I like to sometimes either keep it simple, or only do what I think is necessary for my map.

Luckily I do know how to make custom events and decorations with offsets and links and one strategy I use is to make a rough outline of blocks for a layout, then add decorations, events and items. Then I change the walls into the style of my map.

I want to use offset stuff to make my maps look a million times better, but it's just, not fun to do :( the tricks and glitches that are needed to have things go offset and all of that feels really repetitive, annoying, and unenjoyable to me, it really really sucks. I hope soon Epic Tank will implement a tool that can make putting things offset a lot easier and actually enjoyable, instead of the weird tricks people use to do it.

it depends on the map. if the map is a building, for example like a factory, you can build a little outside section where you go inside the factory. whether for a cutscene or gameplay.

In my build mode perspective, its really hard for me to learn offsets as they are super complicated and take lots of getting used to. I am not against people using offsets for details but I only use it for minor systems and not for actual map detailing.

Pretty Useful! There is probably another newbie mistake: Making unoriginal maps like Fnaf, Minigames, Piggy says, e.t.c. They are EVERYWHERE! You will see atleast one Minigames map or Piggy says map on the Server list. (One of the builder I am working with is creating a tycoon game and I am making a Border Control Game)

it kind of depends on how you go about it. lighting goes a long way. gray walls may also seem particularly more bland if the walls are completely flat
