I would just rant, so I'll do it here instead. Not sure if you have seen any of MadSeason's videos, but I really like them. Anyways, he somehow talked me into trying retail WoW one more time to give it a "fair shake". Oh, I'll give it a shake, alright..../fume. Because oh boy, is it shit! A totally sterile single player experience, followed by obnoxious or silent automatic 5 mans that make me want to jump out the window. Quest markers, LFG, faceroll leveling content and damn NPCs holding your hand every step of the way. Who the fuck is this game made for these days? Blind people? It's just endless shit forever. To think that this once was one of the best games ever released. A long time ago now, though. Fucking garbage, and I'm not playing it for a single second more in my entire life. I'd rather play Minesweeper all day.

3:54 #4 heavily depends of your class. >4 mages 1 healer / 3 mages 1 tank 1 heal< (you can also replace 1 mage with 1 warrlock) you can lvl from 28-60 only in dungeons and you are super fast. Furthermore you don't have to compete with other players (PVP or quest mobs) and you make a lot of gold. And if you start doing BRD (at 50+) you can get some of the BIS gear or at least very good gear.

Pro tip - in Vanilla wow, the content and enjoyment of the game happened far far more during the leveling process. There was far LESS to do at end game, so if you dont enjoy helping people when you're 60, dont rush to be 60. Enjoy the game. Trust me, it's way different, but in a great way. It's about the journey, not the conclusion.

I disagree completely, the end game WPVP/BG's are the main reason to play this game (atleast for me). Sure you can spend all day just helping people and only logging in for raids, nothing wrong with that. But to say the end game lacks content is just plain wrong for people who enjoy honing their skills in WPVP and BG's in order to become the best player in their server. And the raids arent that bad either since in vanilla there isnt a great downside in using PVE gear for PVP. Also the raids themselves are fun and challenging (not talking about MC, at this point in time all the dirty casuals can clear it ez). I would bet money on that you have never cleared AQ40 and Naxx (I havent cleared Naxx either tbh, cos it aint easy/havent had the motivation for it when you can already rekt ppl with t2 and t2,5 :D) This all isnt to say that leveling in classic cant be fun. Some of my best memories from classic come from low level STV WPVP etc. But when you have done it million times it starts to become really painfull aswell :D (done it in retail and then on almost every new vanilla wow private server.) Ill end this TL;DR rant here with a positive note: There is no wrong way to enjoy classic wow. VANILLA/WOTLK > all other expansions

@@stirve674 the point is that in vanilla wow the lvling experience was way more well thought off by devs and not crippled and compressed to shorten the time for newer players to see latest expansion and people who had played it normaly had been on a journey they enjoyed and had fond memmories off it because simply put unless one is the kind of " i wanna lvl as fast i can to go raiding" who joins a so called derissively " lvling guild" and then leaves them as so many other impatient assholes before him to go end game content so that guild never gets the lvled and geared up members numbers to do the raid... (specialy because in vanilla there was no ilvl on raids and dungeons so one could go naked in there and expect the rest to do 110% to 120% work each so he gears up) n the end he ends up in a raiding guild that has no socia`l interaction between members a dead guild chat and only see members loging in when the raid is planned.Sooner or later gets bored and quits game.... because if u sell ur mates and the people u lvled with just so u get faster to the shinny purples.... u end up alone without them around in ur later game to keep u company and make it fun playing.I m leaning to more close bonded guilds ... and a family style company but that's me

Something I would mention... Skills on your action bar are not automatically upgraded as you might expect from retail. You have to actually open your spellbook to add the higher rank spell to replace the lower rank one.

This only goes for casters (mages,locks,priests etc). For classes without mana just automatically learn the higher rank and the lower rank cant be used anymore.

Rule 1. Always log out in a city or inn, so you generate rested XP. Then for a while, dependent on how long you have spent in an inn, you get double XP when you start playing again.

Regarding mages: I played a mage and always offered food/water to anyone I encountered while out questing, and got a reputation for being someone that people liked to help. When you're questing in an area, chances are the other people there are doing the same things so it can really help a clothie to have others help you kill something if you get an add or take on too much. Worked out really well for me. However, all classes can learn to cook with items they loot or fish for, so I didn't really spend money on food and water on my other characters.

In the 50s you don't run out of quests, but they will be very difficult for some classes. I had an issue with this as a shaman, and decided to just go resto and heal dungeons till 60

You forgot the most important thing in Classic WOW... Weapon lvling... that was a huge bitch... if you didnt lvl you weapon its was useless.. warlocks and mages and priest had to lvl wand to help when mana was low...

The dungeon XP farming is not a waste, wrong info. Especially if it is done as a focussed 5 man where the group's focus is XP. It was proven in beta that dungeon XP is more effecient than questing. However, for the solo guy, you are correct. The time it would take to form a group, arrive at the dungeon and do it with no wipes and redo it 3/4/5 times is very small. Makes 100% sense for a solo player to keep to quests and world mob grinding.

Good video. I played vanilla and started playing classic a month ago. I just hit 40, got a mount right away, all the skills I wanted and had 35G left. :D I noticed a lot of people not having a clue, levelling like maniacs only to have 30-40G when they hit 40. Meanwhile my engineering is 245, mining 250, cooking 300, fishing 300 and I'm totally ready to empty out the next zones. I haven't done one dungeon instance so far. =)

The funny thing is, there is no need for strategies on how to level up the fastest up to level 60. Cuz in classic wow, you just do what you want and have fun. So video's like these are really for the BoA players out there, who think like that. And why play classic then, if there is a perfect other game that brings you to max level by just paying some money. Classic is all about having fun playing a game with your friends. The levels come automaticly, it gives the best experience this way.

Classic WoW is also an end loaded game like BFA. The biggest things to do occur at end game. The actual MMORPGs that were about the journey were EverQuest and Dark Age of Camelot, both games that could take a year to get to max level.

@@Zeldrone hope you're not suggesting dungeon speed runs, because in vanilla you actually had to use tactics in dungeons. Cc was often the only way to take packs without the tank dying from too much dmg, as well as the oom issue for the healer if the tank kept pulling without giving the healer time to drink. Mana regen in retail is NOTHING like the non existent mana regen in Vanilla lol

With a dedicated group sure leveling in dungeons is going to be a great way to level. However if you're solo or just have like 1 friend with you grinding/quests is far more efficient. You have to calculate the time spent finding/making a group into your estimates not to mention travel time (remember so summoning stone ports and no lfg).

#3, Paying A Mage for a Portal - you forgot to mention that in Classic, portals require Portal Stones, which cost the mage money, AND cost the mage bagspace, because we have to have the space to carry a stack...and stacks only go to 20 at most, iirc. SO YES, YOU *DO* HAVE TO PAY THE MAGE FOR THE PORTAL (STONE) IN CLASSIC WOW. Anything less is douchewaffly, and could get you /ignored. Most mages will accept a portal stone in lieu of gold, but we prefer a tip bigger than the cost of the stone, because it costs mana and time as well as the stone, and we could be on a quest with a limited amount of time to play online.

Sitting their asses in the capital cities for a whole day doing nothing but selling those portals and food (could've grinded x10 more in that time in right places), then writing posts about how important they are. Tell it to warlocks who summon and soulstone you, tell it to priests, druids etc, tell it to hunters who have -1 of the whole bagspace, not slot, by default for ammo pouch/quiver, not even talking about pet food. Haver you ever gone to a capital and asked a stranger warlock for summon? get your brain working kid. 2. What does this have to do with priest and druids? huh? 3. Hunters got -1 of the whole bagspace because he's a fcking hunter, he chose this class and didn't do it for other people. also, sometimes flight paths in other zones can help you questing. For instance, in duskwood, the constant going from darkshire to the west side graveyard. Just fly from Darkshire to Sentinel Hill and right-click autopilot your way back into the west edge of duskwood. keep in mind nearby FPs when you are moving to a new zone. The long walk from Astranaar to Stone Talon Peak? Well you pass very close to the Nijel Point FP in Desolace, you will kick your self for not getting that FP when you make the long walk to get from STP. Did ya get the Azshara FP when you were in east Ashenvale questing for Kayneth? tips: lunar festival your low levels can get access to the major flight paths and all the cities for 4 silver. Buy fireworks for the quest and you'll get an invitation to the moonglade (and its FP), then you can port to any capital city and grab the FP. Alliance can also get Theramore and Menethil via auberdine. Might want to buy a certain weapon skill far a way before you start grinding your low lvl alt...

I have a few of my own: never beg other players for money. The mark of a true 'kid' is one who has no idea what he's doing, or how to earn money. Take the steps you need to level up when they appear. Don't skip any, especially if you've not played this game before. They teach you how to use the weapons, and you gain points/levels with them. Don't be in a rush to leave the starting zone. Early Wow was loaded with quests that were valuable for the EXP you get, and the money. And don't load up on quests. Take them as they come, but don't overload yourself with them. And enjoy the scenery. It's quite beautiful. =)

i like how he talks about the "not worth to do dungeons, because not enough quests" part and showing only WC/RFC dungeon game plays, while both dungeons have like 5+ quests especially WC where you get like 7-8 quests and one of it gives a bis weapon for the next 10 lvl to almost every classes :D I mean i totally agree to NOT FARM dungeons, but doing those dungeons once where you can gather a lot of quests with not much effort IS a good way to level.

Actually grinding instances works pretty well if you have a decent team. That is because you can constantly kill mobs with little to no downtime in between. Condering how crowded the normal farming areas are, being able to canstantly kill stuff is pretty effective.

I never experienced classic wow, but BC wow was definitely a huge challenge in terms of acquiring gold. The ultimate challenge was the 5000g for epic flying. Not to mention all the classic wow expenses were still there. The levelling was far easier, but it all went down to rep. Rep>Gold in some cases. It would be fun to relive the BC days for some of us.

I would not recommend grinding between the quests. Gaining reputation is really hard to get in classic. If a quest turned grey, you will loose up to 80% rep for the quest. doing green quests can help you be respectful earlier, which helps you spend less money on flights, goods, your skills, and your mount! So changing the quest area can be really useful!

Getting out of quests was actually everyone's big mistake. I never got out of quests. Try to run dungeons in between. Even take extra run's just for the exp and items. Eventually you will always be 1 or 2 levels higher then the destined zone so it will be easier to play as a warrior for example. Try to combine zones, for example: between level 15 and 16 you could go to the stone talon mountain's and finish the grim totem quest line, you come back to the barrens and continue for the next part of quests.

I wouldn't say that not grinding is a mistake. There are always quests if you are willing to put in the time to travel back and forth between multiple zones and not just following a predetermined route. I also think green quests(slightly under your level) are underrated. I think that the journey to level 60 is one of the best parts of classic and I would not call any types of 'inefficiencies' on that journey a mistake.

Dungeon grinding IS the FASTEST way to level up in classic WoW. With a good group and AOE classes such as mages, grinding dungeons is the way to go especially if you max out in your quest area but are a little too low for your next quest area

When it comes to grinding though, I would definitely add that people should plan ahead preciesly what they want to grind. Skinners and LWs might look for good spots to grind beasts for hides and leather, while tailors might take aim at the farms in WPL and other such places for the cloth. This can save you tons of time later when it comes to your professions. Grind the wrong thing and then ding 60 without trade mats, and you have to do another grind at 60 for those when you would probably like to be doing someting else with your time.

In pre-dungeon finder WoW there are 5 quests per dungeon, sometimes more. The quests can be found all over the map. As an example, there are 5 quests in RfC, 2 are from the Orgrimmar(VoW) area, 2 are from the Thunderbluff(HR) area, and there's one from the Undercity(RQ). I'm not sure that you could call this a spoiler since if you didn't know, you could go through the entire game not knowing. Wouldn't you rather know?

i remember my servers richest player pre burning crusade breached 10k gold, back then that amount was near incomprehensible. the guy was a enchanter and had several server first enchants, actually, he was the ONLY one with some of those high level enchantments on the server. entire raiding guilds pooled together gold just to pay him to enchant a couple members gear in the primary raiding team.

You can't do too much dungeons in classic WoW. When your character has a full suit of blue gear from dungeons, the sense of power is unmatched especially as a gear dependent class like warriors.

Should definitely do each once with all the quests, but you shouldn't keep doing the same one over and over unless you have a really good upgrade as a gear dependent class (Warrior, Rogue), like Cruel Barb as a Human Rogue, etc.

Some tips for Wow classic that I have found out (Please do correct me if I am wrong) 1. Ingredients are typically better to auction unless they are easy to obtain/really cheap to get. (Certain items made from ingredients are better but do check the prices) (Recipes are also good to sell typically)(Raw resources will sell easier but some refined goods sell very well just do your research) 2. Get flight paths even if they are out of the way because it is a god send when you need them. (My personal experience says not to slack on this) 3. Fishing and cooking are good ways of saving money and getting money. 4. Grinding weapon levels to all be at like 50, 75, or 100 is a good idea so you can use other better weapons when you get them (Weapon skill effects if you can hit or not)(This is also why you may miss against strong enemies a lot) 5. Buff other people when you see them because they may buff you though be careful buffing people that are pvp flagged. (If you don't know please look it up so you don't die on accident) 6. Don't forget other people exist and if you want something you can ask for it with a price tag of course. (You may be able to ask for something with money if you have the materials but be careful buying because it may be worth more than buying the product) 7. Have an alternate account at a city so you can mail stuff for them to storage, auctions, and other professions for crafting or harvesting. (You can mail things between that alt and back to save space in the bank while keeping it in arms reach)(Mailing stuff takes about an hour unless it is auctions which are almost instant transactions) 8. Fall damage is percentage of health so don't think yourself invincible, but do remember that you can cut time traveling by taking certain falls 9. When you can please do try to fill your bag slots with 8 slot bags that you can find from general goods merchants because better storage space means more money. (I said 8 slots because 6 slots aren't going to get you as far and would be a waste of money in my opinion)(Don't forget that you can use bags for your bank and other accounts) 10. Don't be too shy because grouping up with people in a kill quest area is a good idea because it gets it done faster for all sides involved. (This is because kill quests are shared in a group so if you kill an objective everyone in the group gets it) 11. Get the mod Questie because it is a pain without it trust me on this one. (Finding other mods to help track other things is good too)(If you don't know ask for advice in general chat) 12. Try to do quests before they turn grey so that you get the most possible from them. (Grey means they are way below your level and green means it is getting there) 13. If you do intend to save or get a certain amount of money have a good idea of what the future expenses are and make it a goal. (You can check the price of future trained skills/spells to get an even better idea of what to save for) 14. Do mess with key bindings, interface, and other setting later into the game because it will make your life so much easier. 15. Please read your tool tips and test new skills out to know how useful they are. 16. Checking how items are bound to you may make your life easier if you want to trade it for a certain items or money. 17. Do sparingly respec talents if it isn't obvious do a little studying on each of your options so you won't suck later on in the game. (Use Icyveins to help with talents along with it's talent calculator) This is all I have so far I will add more in the future and if you know grammar well then I wouldn't mind the help with this atrocity of a list.

What I found as a mage is that the water I can conjure is upgraded every 10 levels and is inadequate as you approach the water upgrade level and you sometimes need two x water. Alternatively you buy the higher level water off the vendor, or you ask another mage to give you some higher level water.

Surprisingly I find it very satisfying to go up to everything I see and blow it away to lvl after a while of quests also I have a guildie in classic who is so sweet. #4 TooManyDungeons Yet Dungeon Cleaving seems to be one of the most efficient if not the most efficient way to Level up. Backed up by calculations, comparing lvling outside of dungeons with grinding dungeons. You seem to get the same amount of experience or even more experience while cleaving dungeons and you also get these sweet drops which one might sell in the AH or d/e. It gives ppl the chance to mine veins, get these fine cloth's for tailoring or in some dungeons the mobs provide you with tons of opportunities to skin them. Conclusion: If you are doing it right, there is no "TooManyDungeons".. Allthough grinding the same dungeon over and over might be very tidious and you skip all dem good classic WoW immersion. At least traveling from dungeon to dungeon and do some easy, fast and rewarding quests while you are at it gives you a little bit of an immersive playstyle. Anyways, 20 more hours, can't wait!

not really mentioned specifically is the need to Train various weapons, up until the End of Wrath of the Lichking you needed to grind mobs to increase weapon skills, been using Great Club or Axe but wanna go sword cause the sword you found is SOOOOOO much stronger but your proficiency sucks to the point you cant kill mobs 20lvls lower than you with it? yeah had to travel and train various weapon types and then grind experience.. even unarmed combat experience was a thing but there were at least 2 achievements available for maxing unarmed and all weapon skills. also forgot to mention this was a huge deciding factor in PvP and Battle Grounds, some guy has Heirloom gear woot GRATS that guy spent a lot of time to get it back in the day and Heirloom gear was rare to see, players spammed dungeons and certain mobs for the very best drops for their lvl bracket and the need to have weapon proficiency trained is so that for your lvl you will hit and do the most damage with your chosen weapon and class.. those that didnt train their weapon proficiency stuck out like a sore thumb as they were wearing the best gear and had full enchants boosting their health and did TONS of damage.. but they cant seem to land any hits on same lvl players with that b@d @$$ Epic loot weapon Number 4 spamming dungeons.... yeah classic thru Wrath dungeons were not for grinding xp but for loot farming... UNLESS its lower tiered dungeons, like running a low lvl player thru a dungeon with a higher lvl player then yeah dungeons provided a much faster xp gain... slow lvling? since clothies are notoriously weaker defense wise and warriors slowly lvl, grind parties are a good idea, the xp is spread out but as a party you can clear mobs faster and xp will come in at a reasonably good pace, healers can top off tanks and dps wile ranged support can kite / pull in additional mobs for the tank to aggro. since mobs die off faster this way getting quest items no longer becomes a long chore.. of course not many players want to team up for these activities because many are selfish, out for them self, not team players, and want the freedom to move around where they want and stop when they want.

i didnt do it this weekend cause of the limited time but you better believe ill be doing the FP runs almost right out of the gate in august. Because #6 is a real thing lol. also to go along with your #7 you NEED to keep your gear updated and repaired just because its not showing as "almost broke" (yellow) doesnt mean it isnt going to decrease you efficiency. Plus just 1 level of gear can mean the difference between life and death. As for the flight points Taurens are one that REALLY need to pay attention to this you do a fair amount of questing right there at the entrence to the Barrens you should just run right out and get the flight path even if you decided to walk it later when your ordered to crossroads but it ccan save a fair amount of time if your last quest is anywhere close to Thunder Bluff. #5 is important dont just run around the mobs on your way to a quest kill it all it helps. also dont be afraid of the other races and their zones its all gold gear and EXP you need it ALL lol #4 Mages. Im not sure ill spend my time porting people even for the gold... i will a little. but since ill be running my own community and guild I feel having the ability to take guildies to places will be a nice touch as a GM #1 is so so important It can be little things here and there. Also for professions like Alch and BS you NEED to save up you high level mats save a fuck ton THEN go get a group and do the dungeons were your special crafting table is. Its a pain in the butt and if i remember right dungeon trash respawns even after the bosses are killed. So have a group of friends that are willing to get you to your table then guard your bum while you make sweet sweet gold items. If your really industrious here you will all pitch in and either have the crafting and/or the farming professions and you can just share the gold.... NOTE only do that if you are on good terms with the people. Scams happen

On grinding.. I have only grinded (ground lol) maybe 2 full levels on ALL my toons combined after level 20. That was vanilla and this relaunch. To literally just farm mobs after level 40 but especially high levels like 55 or so would be boring beyond words. BUT I still grind a LOT.. What I generally do is partial grind EVERY time I can if I'm in an area where mobs give good xp and it's fast. I found myself alone in the yeti caves for an hour outside southshore/mill so that was a good one. A great place is in shimmering flats where it takes about an hour or so to do all the quests there anyway.. So I always hang out there an extra hour or two. GREAT xp if it's in your level range. Plague lands, Blasted lands is a great place. Etc. So after level 40 or so. I spend a little bit of extra time ,, oh maybe 20/30 minutes in a good area then move on. If its a GREAT area then an hour or so.. If you find an area with good drops. That's a plus.. Like turtles or dragonlings which are the best because of ease and the drops.

It started its decline smack dab in the middle TBC. People just didn't notice it right away. But that's when they abandoned attunements, alchemy table reqs, multiple hits on mining nodes, turned meeting stones into summoning stones, portal hubs for fast travel, flying mounts etc. The list of nerfs to the content from TBC is endless. But most important of all was the final TBC patch that cut the HP of all mobs in the entire game by half. That's right. Half. I should have quit right then, but went into a denial that lasted for about half of Wrath, when i quit. Came back for six months of Cataclysm to witness the nerfbat being taken to all the content I enjoyed in that expansion, and just resigned myself to playing PVP until my sub ran out. And the end of TBC was when Kungen quit, which should have been a large red flag for everyone. He had been complaining about raids being too easy all trough late TBC, after they unbugged Kael'thas. I even think they made SWP just for him and Nihilum, because fuck me that place was brutal! And he quit because they were openly planning to make the game "casual friendly". Which it already was. Look at MMORPG history and see some of the sick stuff this genre has done. WoW vanilla is like a warm hug by comparison. What they did was set fire to the game before expecting us to ooh and aah at the pile of ashes.

An absolute fallacy. There are sufficient quests to level purely by questing if... (1) you are prepared to travel between questing zones, (2) always leave the more difficult quests in a zone until later or party up with other players to defeat the more difficult "elite" and "wanted" quests. The only downside of purely questing and travelling to do those quests is that the resultant lack of non-quest mob grinding and dungeon grinding will leave you with insufficient gold for your level 40 mount.
