If you would have used Titebond 3, you needn't be concerned about leaking because it is already waterproof. With Titebond 2 I'd keep an eye on it if I were you. The paint will help but once that ages, you may want to recoat.
@AdventureLiteCampers13 күн бұрын
I plan to recoat the pait eventually , i blew a little of it off with a pressure washer exposing the pmf and glue and that piece is still water proof till today I never fixed it to see what happened

I’m wondering if you could put a thin layer of bondo on those seams and then sand them down nice & smooth before painting.
@AdventureLiteCampers2 ай бұрын
It would need to be done before the pmf is applied, you probably could make it nicer. I did spray foam then cut and sanded it good enough for my liking but it could be better for sure
@meangene982 ай бұрын
@ I’m not criticizing your work at all dude. I think you did an awesome job. I’ve never seen anything bondo doesn’t stick too yet though. (Maybe plastic) I’ve used it on metal, fiberglass & even wood. If that pmf is good & dry, I bet bondo would work well on it. Any idea what your camper ended up weighing?
@AdventureLiteCampers2 ай бұрын
@meangene98 thank you, no criticism taken 😁 it probably would work great I cant remember the exact stuff I used to hold it together ,maybe it was liquid nails then I just spray foamed in the cracks sanded that and covered it up. I still never weighed it but I imagine its pretty light since i went with bare minumum wood just so i had some to fasten to my truck with, couldnt figure out how to mount the foam to the bed rails with out the risk of it flying off haha

I’m pretty impressed. I’ve never seen one built almost entirely out of foam before. I’ve got a small Toyota with a camper shell. (Too small). I’ve been thinking about how to build a taller one out of foam, a light wood frame, and fiberglass, but I know the heat & chemical reaction of fiberglass will eat up the foam. Pmf might be the answer! Now that I’ve found your video, I’ve come across a bunch more. Thanks for the sharing. That’s what I love about KZbin! Learn a little here, learn a little there. Time to do some more research.

@meangene98 thats the same boat i was in, need the head room and my little truck cant handle much weight either its only a 4 cylinder Haha and there is one certain type of epoxy that will work with the foam, i came across someone using it on youtube before but i cant remember where, the pmf is a nice alternative and quite a bit less expensive amd really not that hard to work with minus the painting on glue part, ot likes to gunk up pretty fast on the paint rollers but it gets the job done. Good luck with the build , reach out if you have any other questions 🤙

Nice Job! Did you sand the foam before applying the PMF technique? Titebond 2 0r 3 Did you recoat with the Titebond why your 1st layer of Titebond was still wet? Thanks for any help
@AdventureLiteCampers13 күн бұрын
Thank you! I did sand the foam a bit before applying the pmf, titbond 2 is what i used, I did one thinner coat before applying the cloth then let it dry, apllied a thick coat outside the cloth to get in there and soak in the fabric real nice to water proof it then let it dry and did another coat ( maybe over kill but its still good now) let that dry then painted it white
