7 Months Post Dentures.. what?!

One of my favorite personalities discovered when looking into real world feedback regarding getting dentures. Hopefully she is off being happy and sharing that great smile.

I just had 26 extractions and was fitted with immediate dentures this past Monday. The extractions ended up taking 4.5 hours due to unforeseen complications and that first night had me questioning if I had made a massive mistake. The pain was unbearable... But today on day 3 I must say it was worth every bit of discomfort. The ability to smile and not be self conscious is priceless. The swelling is finally going down and my speech has improved dramatically. I still have some bleeding from the upper gums but mostly overnight. Makes me wonder if I'm clenching my teeth in my sleep. To anyone debating about getting dentures... Quit procrastinating and just do it. The temporary discomfort is worth it. On an interesting side note I have had massive sinus problems for the last few years but since my extractions all of my sinus issues seem to have resolved. To sum this up... BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE. I just want to thank you for your vids... They were instrumental in my decision to go ahead with this.

So glad you shared an update with us! Your dentures look really good and I can tell you are much more used to wearing them. For me, it took awhile to to truly feel comfortable smiling and talking with them because I spent so many years hiding my crooked teeth. I think finally getting dentures since we live in a society so caught up in looks was probably one of the best choices I've made. People truly do treat me better now, it could be that I have considerably more confidence as well though. You're awesome, thanks again for sharing =)

Hi Carolyn, I just found you on utube today. I have to tell you...I love watching your videos, you're so positive and uplifting compared to some others I have watched. I'm going to have 24 teeth extracted on February 16, while being awake. Only having nova-cane to deaden my mouth. I'm having it done. At Affordable Dentures in California and I have researched the dentist and the office and have only found good reviews. So I feel comfortable with all of that. I'm very excited to get this done so I can have a beautiful smile like yours. Your dentures look very nice and your smile really is beautiful. When I was 5 I had all of my teeth extracted due to having broken rotten teeth. I was very embarrassed about it. When my other teeth came in they were yellow and again I was very disappointed and embarrassed. This coloring was due to my mom needing to take an antibiotic while I was in the womb. Now I'm 57 and have broken teeth and bad gums so I have decided to get dentures and I'm so happy about it because for the first time in my life I'm going to have a beautiful smile and no more mouth pain when I'm done healing. I'm going with the ultimate dentures. Anyway I will continue to watch and learn from you. I love your videos so keep'em coming...please! Thank you for your positive feedback. 👍🏻😁

Bless you Beach Chick! It was your videos that got me through. It was your videos that gave me hope it wouldn't be as bad as I feared! I had total extraction, plus lingual mandibular tori removed. I had stitches for weeks that were like barbwire in my mouth. Once they were gone, it started getting better. Something you said that I really doubted is all the things you can now eat. Wow, was I ever WRONG! I eat potato chips, all kinds of nuts, doritos and steak. While missing teeth, none of these things were possible! Doritos were like chewing broken glass. Not any more. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Like I said....you got me through it all!

The reason that professionals talk about cigarette smoking is because it's one of the most awful habits you can have! My younger sister died from stage four lung cancer at a very young age and she smoked a couple of packs a day. Congrats for quitting! Best decision you will ever make!! Love your videos. I have an abscess right now and severe teeth issues. Been contemplating dentures for a long time but I'm terrified. Was in a bad car accident at 17 that caused PTSD and dentists are not my friend. Thank you sooooo much for posting all of these videos!. I'm two days since my extraction and immediate dentures. My teeth were horrible for years (close to a decade as well) and I finally sucked up it up and had the procedure knowing that putting it off any longer was seriously endangering my health. I really did not know what to expect other than there would be a lot of adjustment to everyday things like eating and speech. I work in telecommunications, so I obviously have some time off work to heal and subsequently WAY too much time to worry about how healing and acclimating to my new teeth will go. You've helped to calm a lot of my fears and anxieties as well as given me a great idea of what to expect in the weeks to come and how to handle my follow up appointments. I thankfully live in a smaller city, so even though I went to Aspen, they treat me as an individual and not a number (It doesn't hurt that one of my cousins is their office manager! lol). Again, I am so thankful you made these videos and have a much more positive outlook on my healing process because you took the time to document your experience.

I just wanted to thank you so much for making these videos! I have been watching them and it has made me feel so much at ease with getting dentures! I have needed them for a long time and have been putting it off.. I have watched all your videos twice over the past two days. I'm sooooo tired of dental problems and you have inspired me to get the dentures instead of trying to find a way to pay for implants. You are awesome! I am also a smoker and feel like I cannot stop while Im stressed out about E day.....although you have really put that in perspective for me. You really encouraged me to go for it. I did it but I'm only like 60% happy lol. I wanted to tell you I'm on day 5 of extractions and it's hard. They made my upper outrageously obnoxious. I smoke Cigars ... I have an oval hole for a smile. It has come to my attention that Cigars are abrasive and now my bottom front teeth are no longer candidates for caps so Dentures are what is my future. My Dentist of 20+ years has even threw up her hands (I also grind my teeth when I sleep) so there isn't much left for her to work with. I love your attitude and can do spirit ... hopefully it will rub off on me

I had 27 teeth removed on September 18th. Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover temporary dentures so I am still toothless right now. I go in on the 29th of this month for impressions and will have teeth about 3 weeks after that. Your videos make me really look forward to the day I get mine.

A few years ago I started watching your videos. I am very appreciative that you have shared your experience with your dentures. I will eventually get them. But it is funny to mention to my dental technicians (they shake their heads and squirm) that I will one day get dentures because I won't smile any longer for videos or pictures because my teeth are so ugly and I refuse to keep pouring money into them. It's like investing in an old house. It's money pit. I know a girl who is very poor and one of her clients decided to invest in her teeth, now up to $70,000 and still going. It's called "Sunk Cost Fallacy" which means the more you invest in something the harder it becomes to abandon it.This girl wishes she would of just invested in a set of good dentures. And I am sure her client wishes that also. I hope you will still do check in videos from time to time.

I just want to say thanks for doing the videos. I go for my first consultation appt this coming week and am nervous. I am looking forward to having a pretty smile again, but I worry about going back to work after just a few days off, but I think I will be fine after seeing how well you have done. I do have a question that I haven't seen addressed and some may think it silly, but I wonder how it will be to kiss my wife when I have the dentures? Will they get knocked out of place? (She and I are getting them at the same time, so neither of us is sure how this will impact us! I'm glad I quit smoking and got my "fogger", lol. I'm 34 and had back surgery in 2012 and 2014, (the second being a removal of my L5-S1 disc and having the vertebrae fused to my sacrum with titanium rods + a synthetic bone implant screwed in to replace the disc), and smoking did not help. Apart from all the other health risks smoking poses, it constricts the blood vessels and drastically reduces the growth and healing of your bones. The last surgery was done in 2014 and I hadn't felt much better as far as continued pain. I quit smoking about 2-3 months ago and also completely cut out pop/energy drinks over the past 2 weeks because of a bad cold/sinus infection and my everyday back pain has been drastically reduced. The main times I have problems now are when I act like I never had problems to begin with, lol. I also only have 5 top teeth, ( 2 of them badly broken from trying to have partials done by a discount dentist), and on the bottom I'm missing 2 molars from each side. Now the bottoms are crowding together and breaking each other with the gum line reduced almost to the bone. I've been wanting to get this process started for so long but couldn't summon the guts to take the first step but after seeing some of these videos from you and others in addition to quitting the sugar/cigarettes, I think it may be time. Hey Beach Chick, I'm hoping you see new comments in your email, I've been watching your videos and yours look great, look like they fit your mouth and face, what I'd LOVE to see is the dentures out of your mouth. I'd love to see some up close shots of dentures out of the mouth that fit right to compare to what I have. After my extractions last Sept the first ones they put in my mouth didn't fit at all and came right out. Then I waited until my gums healed and I just got new dentures yesterday, they are better but I have major gagging problems. Feels like I have a bear trap in my mouth. I've gone a long time without any teeth and now these feel very foreign and bulky. Did you ever gag? Seems like you were able to talk right away too. I can't do anything with mine in.

Hey Beach Chick, I am an Oral Surgeon in Dallas, TX. Sorry for asking here, but I would like to offer you and your subs Full-Arch Bridges to replace your loose dentures. Not that your dentures are “loose” but that is what we call conventional standard dentures that are not anchored with implants, like our grandmothers wore. We have a process that is far better than the implant denture mills we all have heard of. You might even be able to get back on You Tube.
