...or the students could just play hanged man game.with the rule that they use words for their level of difficulty so they cant be 3 letter words for example must be at least 8 or so

you're too cute. i wish i had had a teacher like you when i was a student or had access to ideas like yours when i was a teacher. i'm retired and i regret that back at my time we didn't have such education either as a student or as a teacher. we started learning english in a very simple way with mr. and mrs. Browns. i'm not complaining but i haven't been able to reach the level I've dreamt all my life. what we need is a full exposure. nothing else works. esl students with a native english speaking who doesnt know the first language of themselves are very lucky because if you know the language of your students or if you're not a native english speaker , as soon as the student has said they didnt understand you switch to the first language, which is not good at all.
