So fun fact about the Balloon spells: Balloonra is the most braindead spell in all of KH3D, but the highest max dps award actually goes to Balloon. Yes, the first tier spell. If you are able to make the boss consistently run into the balloon mines, Balloon shreds them faster than Balloonra can ever hope to achieve. However, of course, the drawback lies in getting the enemy to run into the balloons. If they’re human-sized, you can abandon all hope of all your balloons hitting them, and because of its stationary nature, it’s really inconsistent. But if you can find the right moment to break the game in your favor, Balloon will murder. For a lot of cases though, Balloonra will more consistently deal with all the enemies.

Waterga and Waterza from KH3 is probably my favorite offensive and defensive spell in the game. Not only can it cancel attacks it also staggers enemies into the air.

The projectile moving slower is also nice because it functions as a good gap closer across long distances, you can fire off a Water shot then follow it and get within range to follow up easily. Also the invincibility while casting is super nice.

Kh1's gravity spell was also really broken. Espicially in fights like behemoth. Spamable and did great dmg + flatening smaller enemies for some crowd control

a bit of a missed opportunity to not include 358/2 days, its magic is one of its more unique features (for the record, for me id say thunder because if you do it agaisnt a wall all of the bolts strike in the same position, racking up a ton of damage. This makes it be useful for most of the game)

Personally I love the Stop Spell in KH1-especially in 1.5 Remix. Why, you ask? Because it easily works in tandem with Gravity and if you want, you can have Goofy and Donald hold onto ethers or elixers elixers and just spam Stop+Gravity+Gravity into a repeat and just keep going. Maleficent Dragon made easy!

Using Aero and Thunder simultaneously in KH3 is just awesome. That's because thunder inflicts "electrify" to all enemies, and Aero makes them touch with eachother, so you get: base aero damage + base thunder damage + electrify percentile damage + (if you go inside the tornado) flowmotion damage that pushes all enemies away from you. It's really great for crowd control, and it shows how underrated KH3's magic system is.

I like spamming "Fire" on KH 358/2 days. Yeah, it's the most basic spell but it's surprisingly efficient when the enemies are not immune to it.

A word about the Vanitas Remnant: it's a bad idea to bring Cure spells because using them will cause the boss to heal himself. Use other healing methods like Potions, Renewal Block/Barrier, or Heal Strike.

To note about areoga in kh1 do not use it against ice titan it is detrimental if you do

Yep, Ice Titan has a dedicated script for countering Aeroga. It uses larger icicles that can't be reflected. They pierce Aeroga and stagger you if you try to guard against them.

Seeker Mine has the best situational utility in BBS but whenever I play that game as any character I make a beeline straight towards getting Magnega, Thundaga, and Mega Flare.

To make Kingdom Hearts 1 spells useful, upgrade Sora's MP count by maxing out his equipment and selecting the Dream Rod when starting the game.

Actually, Kingdom Hearts 3 was not Sora's first time being able to use a -za class spell. Dream Drop Distance has Zero Graviza.

You have to use Potions on the Vanitas Remnant fight, not curaga, or else Vanitas will copy you and heal himself with his own Curaga

God, Triple pursuit was disgusting. It mixed with judgment triad absolutely decimated bosses like data Roxas in seconds. Zero one keyblade with magic boost and all crit as the overclocks= DEVASTATION

I want to say that, while it’s cool that every KH game mixes up how spells work, but KH2 had probably the most solid set. Every single spell had a good, solid use (except for Magnet imo, but that proved itself in BBS instead). Magic in KH2 is really good. On the opposite side of the coin, KH3’s magic felt incredibly samey, with most spells being just a standard projectile in a different element.

If you're going to single out one spell at being lackluster in KH2, I wouldn't think Magnet would be the one to point at. Magnet offers really good crowd control, something other spells in 2 don't really offer outside of stuff involving Wisdom/Final Form and Firaga. If anything Blizzard is the weak link, it does damage as a projectile, but doesn't really bring much to the table that Thunder doesn't already do better. In the same sort of vein, you're also oversimplifying KH3's magic as well. While it is disappointing that there aren't any purely utility spells like Magnet, Reflect or KH1 Aero, the spells themselves being lumped as "does damage as a projectile" is still a big oversimplification. -Fire is the standard tracking DPS spell at the cost of not inflicting any ailments -Blizzard setting up for flowmotion grinding as well as freezing any enemy it hits which makes for useful crowd control (and also allowing you to attack enemies through armor like Large Bodies.) -Thunder has no travel time like usual and is the best at AOE damage coverage (loses to fire on pure DPS, but also does inflict Electrify as well, which helps its crowd control via causing chain reactions from making enemies come into contact with eachother -Aero has some suction capability akin to Magnet, (just not as powerful,) but launches enemies up, allows the user to springboard with it and (although niche,) it can also be used to dispel the Cloud status ailment. -Water is my personal favorite, a surface level glance makes it just look like a weaker fire, but the invincibility while casting combined with the slower projectile travel time makes it a really useful utility spell to potentially avoid attacks then follow up the slower traveling projectile to combo off the setup. The fact that it also forces enemies like shadows out from beneath the surface is also nice (especially for Dark Riku and Ansem's bosses where they have attacks that do this.)

@@Robbie_Haruna Fair enough on KH2 Magnet. Honestly, it’s not the spell I’d consider the worst in KH2-that might be Blizzard, fine enough but the room clearing potential of Fire and Thunder are more desired-but Magnet just happens to be the spell I’m least inclined to use. And as I threw into my original comment, that ONLY applies to KH2: over in Birth By Sleep, I LOVE Magnet. As for KH3, I still feel my opinion, but I also have to admit that KH3 is a game I don’t have much experience in even after 4 years and it still just kind of feels off to me. Still a fun game in its own right, but I didn’t really care much for how the combat changed, it was fine but I never got to a point where it clicked and felt right with it like the other games. All this to say that yeah, I am NOT a person who should be judging KH3 on anything.
