Thanks for the list, I will try to goto all of these when I am there next week. The only thing is Ichiran which I would suggest people avoid as locals avoid it too as the ramen is not bad but not great either. I have been to one in Taiwan and was not impressed, but the experience was nice.

Enjoying your videos. I wanted your advice regarding the number of days you suggest for Tokyo and Kyoto for a first time visitor who is a foodie.
@HiMikeAndJules
@HiMikeAndJules Жыл бұрын
Depends on how many days you can go. You can do Tokyo in 3 days but it will be a super packed schedule. I would recommend 5 days. Kyoto you can do in 3 days pretty easily. Make sure you make reservations for restaurants a week before you arrive. You don't have to with ramen joints but for good sushi, shabu and yakiniku. Tablelog is a good place to start. When are you planning on going?

@HiMikeAndJules
@HiMikeAndJules Жыл бұрын
Many of the restaurants have English menus or an electronic tablet or even a vending machine that all have pictures of most of the food that you can order from. If there is only a Japanese menu, you can use Google Translate app to take a picture. The translate app can transcribe the menu. Then you can just point and choose!

Foreigners should Don Accino Shibuya restaurant. Bad service, rude, and they made us pay extra because we were foreigners. I asked my Japanese friend who was the only local with us, and she said that's what the manager told her why we paid extra just to be there. All the staff were very rude when we complained.
