I love the sound of the bat being dragged for some reason. It just set up the whole feeling. This is another one of their post apocalyptic ones first covered by them in Warriors and then again in Dream On. Layne went absolutely crazy on this. He’s been experimenting with more of those strange sounds lately. The first time I noticed a distinct change was when they did Dream On and he did that weird helicopter or bugs skittering sound. You caught the gun sound, but you do you hear the shell casing hit the floor? I have not seen you for a while so I’m not sure if you have seen the cover of Valhalla Calling. J, their prior baritone that Cesar replaced, came back to Orlando on leave (and to have his wedding) and appeared in it. There is a fair amount of postproduction effects, and it is spectacular. They all went berserker, even sweet sassy Cesar. Layne really went off in that one too, even imitating a creaking door opening and closing. The set for it is a amazing because Eli did it in Unreal Engine which is used by the film and video game industry to create their digital backgrounds. No green screen, just a wall sized LED screen! They were a lot of the costuming and used many of the same facial tattoos as in My Mother Told Me. Don’t worry about pausing and rewinding. If people want to watch it straight through, which they should, they can go to the original. We come here to not only hear what you have to say but to celebrate their amazing talent together. Welcome back!

eli sounds different here because he's singing in his lower range with a different tone, he definitely doesn't sound produced, it's very close to his normal speaking voice

I actually had not heard this song before they covered it. lol VoicePlay has introduced me to a lot of songs I hadn't heard before. I do love this cover, thanks for the reaction!

My favorite moment in this one was that very high run that Anthony did and then just handed it off to Eli. Same pitch, an E5 I think! Next try their cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, or Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me. The second one will break your heart, be warned.

Really enjoyed your reaction! ❤ If you want to get a good idea of the versatility of Eli's voice, watch VoicePlay's "In the Hall of the Mountain King." It's an orchestral piece they did for Halloween. Even if you think you don't know it, you will when you hear it. Eli is a voice actor so he can do some crazy stuff and he has a huge range (like everyone in their group, lol). I love how much these guys are exploring and experimenting with their voices and with editing. We're getting some amazing songs out of it!!

Great reaction. Voiceplay released their new video on their patreon Thursday.. It should be on KZbin soon. J None is back in this one. Geoff Castelucci just posted his new video on his patreon A week ago. He brought back the 4 Dwarves from his Misty Mountain Cold video. He will premiering it on KZbin June 9th. Both are absolutely beautiful.

I cannot stop watching reactors getting broke by this song...this song broke me as well. Geoff Arranged this one and they just seem to get better with each cover they do!! I just do not know how they do it. There are no words at all. And Anthony has the angels voice with all those runs...OMG!!!

As others have said, Eli sounds different partially because of where he’s singing. But he can really change his voice. If you listen to Hall of the Mountain King, you’ll hear a riff where he goes straight operatic without any grit at all. He has a side gig as a voice actor or doing voice overs or something like that. Little tip on remembering the names….the shortest dude has the shortest name. 😏 Also Layne is always on the outer edge of the line up. He’s usually on the right side of the screen, Geoff is usually to the left if they are standing all in one row.

J. isn't in this one. It's Cesar, Geoff, Anthony, Eli and Layne. J is currently in the navy :) Eli is absolutely channeling his inner Negan. Geoff is just making bones shake. Cesar sings like an angel and Layne is doing that insane vocal voodoo that only he can pull off :) Anthony fits in so awesomely as their featured guest! Love his voice! But Eli stole the show!

I concur, and am hoping you will be doing considerably more VoicePlay. VoicePlay has put together the apocalyptic trilogy, part 1 is Warriors (Imagine Dragons), part 2 is Dream On (Aerosmith) and part 3 which you just did! For a bit stronger on Cesar's side: We're Good (his audition for membership although I don't think it was in doubt:, I Can't Make You Love Me, We Don't Talk About Bruno. Another odd one is In the Hall of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg 1875) and it is full comedy.
