In this video I'm doing a quick comparison of the Galaxy S22 Ultra vs the Pixel 7 Pro and going over 7 reasons the Galaxy S22 Ultra destroys the Pixel 7 Pro. This is not a full comparison but rather 7 things I feel the Galaxy S22 Ultra does better than the Pixel 7 Pro. Awesome vid Jonathan! Big thumbs up from me! Can't decide between the Pixle 7 and the Galaxy S22 "regular". I was leaning toward the S22 but then I heard about overheating and slow shutter speed issues that some talk about? Are these valid concerns?

I was surprised how good the 100 x zoom is on the S 22 ultra, and how clear it is, far from a gimmick. I still think the s pen is one of the most important feature of any phone, I use it alot, its much easier being able to write things down, rather than type them in, plus, being an electrician, I use it for work drawing diagrammes with measurements of lighting positions, bits of paper can be lost, I've never lost a note I've made with the s pen, plus remote for the camera is a brilliant feature. I think the 23 ultra will take that camera to the next level. And it's the only device I'll swap my 22 ultra for.

I have both phones and I have to say the ultra is an amazing phone but Jesus lord I love the simplicity of the pixel. The pixel reminds me of the ads from the iphone. "Is a pixel. Just work" incredible phone. Is cheaper. Smoother. All them multitasking I have never use them and don't need them. In the camera we all need a phone that has a great camera easy to use and just work so I stay with my pixel.

I tried the s22 ultra but I sent it back today after using it a couple weeks because the pixel 7 is just much more fluid and intuitive. There were a lot of things I hated about the pixel 6 pro, but so far the 7 pro is a vast improvement, I guess I've been in the pixel long for too long now that I will never make it out because there are certain things that google does that are simply better on the around side at least.

@@CoronaV19 the display was too yellow/vivid and no matter what setting I used it was either too vivid, too dull, too cold, or too warm and it isn't nearly as smooth as a pixel even though it is fast and powerful, and it also had this weird glitch where the screen would flash like it was about to die, awesome piece of hardware and would have loved to have kept if I just had money to waste, but I need something that works and has a seamless experience, so I had to let it go

@COVID -19 I will say that pixels are a touch more fluid and intuitive but again not much, the ai and even typing is vastly superior on a pixel but that's it as far as I can tell because everything else is better on the S22 ultra except for pictures with a lot of movement. I've found that I really enjoy the superior hardware of the S22 ultra and it just works flawlessly at simple things like having a strong signal, processing without overheating, call quality etc. I've had pretty much every pixel since the 4 and everyone I've ever had has some weird glitch or defect. but the pixels are great, the ai and value for money is second to none minus the couple weird glitches that I always inevitably had on one

I've been tossing around the idea of trading my OnePlus 8t which I don't even use but for internet as I have an s22 ultra because I mainly use voice recognition and I heard the Google Pixel 7 pro is unbelievable accurate whereas Samsung isn't as good also the 180 charges fastest than any phone I've ever had so I don't know if I want to get rid of it or not

Not a fan of "destroy" videos. I see that with other you tubers. It is too strong of a word. A lot of what you and others mention are personal taste and preference. Some people prefer S22 ultra; some prefer the pixel 7 pro. I have both. I prefer the s22 ultra because their software is better for me. But I wouldn't call the s22 ultra destroying the pixel 7 pro. Whatever the reasons, it is only slightly better. Better on S22 ultra.....One UI, charging speed, responsiveness, camera system. Better on pixel: Shutter speed, more natural pictures, speech to text. The only thing that I think Samsung "destroy" all phones across the board is the Spen and software. Love it and I hate not having it. Feel like I am missing it when I have a phone without a s pen.

Anything can be labeled as personal taste such as you saying the images from the Pixel are more natural. I strongly disagree with that statement considering how much the Pixel over sharpens and adds a ton of contrast. I understand the reasoning for not liking destroy in the title but let's be real here, there are several ways the Pixel cannot compete. Multi-tasking, Dex, 10x telephoto and even higher with digital zooming, camera features, battery life, charging speeds, and display. Even if you remove some of these things there are still many that most users will gravitate towards.

Samsung also uses AI features to adapt and learn to improve battery and performance. Outside of the AI phone and Google Assistant features there is not much the S22 Ultra can’t do that the Pixel can. The Pixel cannot use a pen in the same way. It lacks the Wacom digitizer and native optimization for pen support.

Interesting video. The Samsung is an obvious choice for the "pro" user. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and the battery life is not far short of an iPhone 14 Pro Max whereas I've heard a lot of S22 Ultra users complain about the battery.

I have all 3 phones and can tell you the Pixel 7 Pro is the worst based off my use. The 14 Pro Max is the best but the S22 Ultra is not that far off.

@@OT4Tech That's good to hear. I've been staying away from Galaxy phones because my experience with the Exynos versions (in the UK) has been terrible for battery life. Hopefully the rumours about Snapdragon in all models of the S23 are true.

Im having the hardest time ever deciding between these two. Amazon has the S22 Ultra for $850 and 10% back if use Amazon Store Card. Google Pixel 7 Pro Ive heard alot of people like it more then the S22 Ultra. The S22 Ultra looks so big and would be hard to use one handed. But its supposed to be the better phone. I tried a One Plus and hated it, that was the weirdest phone Ive ever seen. So basically on Amazon The Pixel 7 Pro and S22 Ultra will be about the same price if you use a Amazon Card on the Ultra and get the near $100 back.

Pixel 7 Pro is a great phone but I prefer the features and experience of the S22 Ultra. As for the size, they are nearly identical in height but the Pixel 7 Pro is wider. The S22 Ultra has a much better one handed mode.

Just a point, battery life is subjective, and from every test I have seen, the Pixel 7Pro is close to the S22U battery life and beats it more times than not. So 2hrs extra on the S22U is unbelievable; I have tested both, and the S22U gets me 4-5hrs, the P7P between 5-6hrs in my use case. So, anyone watching this video, do not take that literally, as it is not supported by the majority.

@@OT4Tech Just checked out PhoneBuff scientific check (see website) which is more reliable than random users. Again the Pixel 7 Pro beat the S22U (SD8G1) and there are several other tests confirming this. I wonder if you have a dodgy Pixel or a bug? Or it could be the apps you use are better optimised on the S22U. But getting 2hrs extra SoT just does not match what everyone else is saying. Just look on Twitter, the S22U is regularly slammed for sub-par battery, even worse after OneUI 5.0.

In the UK, the 12GB S22U at launch was £1270, whilst the Pixel 7 Pro was £850. That is before you take in that we got a Pixel Watch LTE (£400) free and 10% back if you are a ONE member! The extras for pre-orders on Samsung were poor (Disney+), and trade-ins were meh. So, for me, the Pixel 7 destroys the S22U for value, and anyone with lower disposable income has an easy choice on launch. No way I could justify even thinking about the S22U in the UK; the Pixel is just so far ahead in bang for bucks; if this was a boxing match, the ref would have called the Pixel winner in round 1. Samsung is no longer the value option (outside the monopolistic US market) in Android-land; the Pixel is King. The caveat is for Note devotees that need the s-pen. Though I agree that Samsung has more features, and for some, they may be greater than the Pixel's extra features, but not all. I have the S20U 10X and never use it and do not miss it, and I am not an s-pen user, especially with dictation on the Pixel killing it! Obviously, I would never recommend buying the S22U now, as even if discounted, it will be superseded by the S23U in a couple of months. The Pixel at pre-order was the way to go.

In any case, I don't think the 7 Pro is worth the upgrade from the normal 7. And the price of the normal Pixel 7 is so low that it's a no brainer, and it outvalues the Galaxy by a large margin.

I moved from S22 Ultra to P7Pro. While s22 is undoubtedly feature rich and probably the best Android phone out there, the pixel experience is unmatched. It's a joy to use a Pixel. Just a personal preference. I hate the s22 camera lag because I miss capturing my kids while in action. Also the oneUi animations are inconsistent.

FYI the S22U does not go down to 1Hz; Samsung decided to not use their best display and this only drops to 24Hz. So it is inefficient compared to rivals like the iPhone. They also only use 120Hz for PWM, and that is what we see on $400 phones. Phones like the OPPO have 10X faster PWM dimming. The Pixel 7 Pro is not great but it at least has 240Hz so for the 20% that get eye and head strains from dimming, the S22U is a miss.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra goes down to 1hz when using the always on display or when the display is on an inactive screen with no movements. The test that were performed were on the Home Screen which still has active widgets. This is an incorrect statement and only takes a few searches to find the correct information.

@@OT4Tech I checked with GSMArena as they confirmed that Samsung were very misleading, and they could not see 1Hz. I tested and no 1Hz. On AOD I see 24Hz, though was 60Hz new (update has dropped it down). If it does go to 1Hz it is not noticeable and the reality is 24Hz minimum. GSM quote: “But the advantage of the Galaxy S22 Ultra is not as big as we originally thought. We never actually saw the phone drop to 1Hz - or indeed below 24Hz. During all of our testing so far, both the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra showed 24Hz to be their lowest refresh rate.”

@@OT4Tech I use the developer refresh rate counter and tested on an OPPO Find X5 that show 10Hz when static, so it is not the software reading it wrong. The lowest I have ever got and tested for weeks is 24Hz. My S22 I tested was 48Hz which was pretty shocking.
