European low-cost carrier Ryanair often gets a bad rap from passengers who have had a less positive experience with the airline. While it is true that things can go wrong from time to time, the majority of experiences with Ryanair are uneventful- in a good way. Here are 7 reasons why flying Ryanair isn't as bad as you may think.

In the UK we have a coach service called National Express that's meant to be a cheap and cheerful way to travel between cities. I tend to think of Ryanair and easyJet as International Express.

I traveled a lot, eco here, eco there. Business on Scoot, Business on Lufthansa, Business on Qatar. Still, always, if its an option, i choose Ryanair. You get what you pay for, a safe flight, mostly on time. Most people saying bad things about Ryanair fly a few times a year or less. If you travel a lot - you can compare - and you will see, Ryanair is good.

We have used Ryan Air between Cyprus and Uk since they started flying to Paphos . During Covid, Ryan Air flights from UK to Cyprus continued with very few cancellations, whereas competitors stopped flying or cancelled flights at the last minute if they were not full. We flew a few times from Cyprus to UK in 2021 and had great experiences. In 2022 we flew to UK, Marseille, Zadar and Zagreb , all on time and efficient . I agree with all the points in this video, Ryan Air has come a long way in the last 10 years , it is now a leader in Europe

Over the summer I was looking for flights from Santorini to Milan one way. easyJet and Ryanair were the same price and their flight times were an hour apart. I went with easyJet, and I’m glad I did because the Ryanair flight that was supposed to depart an hour before mine was delayed 9 hours. I felt a little smug walking to the aircraft 😂

I think it's to do with time zones, not sure. On Ryanair's website the landing time is shown in the timezone of the country you are arriving in, therefore the time may be late/early.

Constantly flying Ryanair, most of the time it has been on time with one exception that had a 1.5 hours delay due to airport congestion related to non Ryanair strikes. And had one flight cancellation that actually helped as I was planning to cancel the flight, refunded within a couple of weeks. Leg room is better than some European Flag carriers. It’s always my first choice unless I find cheaper with another airline (airfare + cost to airport)

Guys, 12 years of aviation here, I work for an european "legacy carrier" and guess what? I rather fly the LCC's, most of the flights are on time, while ours are rarely on time, you pay for everything with them? Guess what? now with us you also pay for almost everything. Upgrade to bizz class? Yes, pay the difference but get no extra bag, no fast track, no comfy seat, the difference being the middle seat blocked. In the end of the day: I only use my staff travel benefits on long haul flights IF the fare is worth it...

Usually try to avoid them after they stranded me in the canaries when they cancelled my flight home due to bad weather (no option to re-route, simply refunded my fare and I couldn’t contact them). That was almost 4 years ago, I’ve decided to try them again next March for a trip to Madrid (good flight time). Fingers crossed!

That's the downside. They say here's your money back. Now go away. If you are fit and able and have deep pockets, a person can manage. If you have a disability and need a little more consideration, then pay the extra and fly with another airline who will ensure you get home.

Just be mindful about where your flight will land. Ryanair is quite cheeky when naming their destinations, ie. their Barcelona airport is actually Barcelona (Girona), mind you, Girona is 100km away from Barcelona. So unless you’re going to Girona, you’re better off flying with Easyjet to Barcelona El Prat, which is actually located in Barcelona. You save time and money with your transportation. Another example is Milano Orio del Sério, which is actually located in Bergamo, over 50km from Milano. There are many more similar examples. Other than that, I agree with what was said in the video.

Ryanair have had (not sure if it's current) some international examples. Two I recall are Copenhagen (Malmo) and Vienna (Bratislava). They may not be that far apart, but it ain't Ryanair that's paying for the the final leg to your real destination. Having said that, I think - on my limited experience - Ryanair does what it claims to do more than adequately.

Ryanair is not bad at all provided that you don’t have high expectations when it comes to service. Their onboard food and beverage selection is great and reasonably priced. I never had a negative experience with them. The problem comes in when things go south and Ryanair might not have the resources or willingness to deal with the issue. Then you are on your own.

I collected lists of their fees and could see changes for years were rising on many fronts. The use of airports and naming them after the city which they are located 100 kilometers or more from... Flew them for the first time on pet of a European trip in May with my son. It was totally fine and the crew were a lot of fun. On time, reasonably comfortable for a 2 hour flight. Here in the USA we have Spirit airlines and frontier airlines…ULCC, both. You get what you pay for. I’ve never had issues with either one. The issue is not usually the airline but the people flying them because they are cheap. Just because you get a good deal on a flight does not give you the right to have bad behavior.

Flying RyanAir can be easy if one follows their procedures as outlined on their web site. The only problems I've seen are with passengers who try to circle their rules, mainly with oversized luggage. Yes, I've seen a fellow denied boarding & no refunds given due to him trying to board with large bag. As for landing outside of popular cities, that information is easily discovered when planning one's journey. Train and bus schedules to complete a trip can be found online. One has to balance the cost of the flight with the cost and convenience of arriving at one's final destination. The only inconvenience I have faced with one of my RyanAir flights was not the airline's fault. Three evening flights landed in Beauvais close together, and there was only one bored French customs officer checking everyone's passports, which caused long lineups and delays. Apart from that one scene, all my other RyanAir flights were fine and on time.

I fly a route with both RyanAir and a Legacy Carrier (AerLingus) as options regularly. RyanAir are far quicker and more efficient gate to gate, and the legroom is actually better than the alternative. Whilst the seat isn't quite a comfy, it's perfectly adequate, particularly on their older models.

Easier booking, better overview of costs and less surprises. Once had covid and had to reschedule my flight with Easyjet a day before departure, costet me 60 Euros for a two way ticket. I've flown Ryanair a few times and when it comes to flying on them it isn't so much the airline itself and its staff & services that is the problem, but rather the type of passenger (particularly during summer holiday periods) that unfortunately is attracted to fly with Ryanair because of their super cheap fares. Fight, arguments, belligerent & antisocial behaviour (often all linked to excessive consumption of alcohol) are far more commonly encountered in the air as well as at check-in when compared to more expensive full-service flag carriers, however in fairness this is no different from other low-cost European carriers such as EasyJet, Jet2 etc I suppose..

I flew on Ryanair on the route HHN-SKG and back a few years ago. To be honest: it was the worst flying experience I've had in my lifetime. Maybe it was only two times bad luck, but since then I've never flown with Ryanair again and don't plan to do so for the next years... Those two flights truely confirmed all of the jokes and stereotypes... (Air conditioning was off until engine start (got awful headache just a few minutes after boarding), seat pitch / space felt horrible too (maybe due to the rather wide person next to me), both landings were bumpy, crew wasn't really polite, the buy-on-board food wasn't sth you'd like to eat (went straight into trash...) and my handluggage got checked twice for weight (eventhough it was kinda lightweight)...) Maybe I'll try Ryanair sometime again, but I have enough of it for the next few years... (this is my personal opinion, no bashing, just personal made experience and resulting feelings/opinions...)

Didn't like the booking system where I had to find out how to opt out of things such as Insurance. Amazon used this technique to get people to sign on to prime. Personally i have flown more with Easyjet as they fly to and from where I want to go. Looked at flying Ryanair Manchester to Vienna but a midnight arrival time was useless, as trains would have stopped running and an airport hotel would wipe out any savings. Agree Ryanair is punctual but they may put slack in the timetable to ensure it happens.

1) RyanAir is not an airline. Its a bus 2) Ryan treats its staff poorly. They get no pension or sick plan because they don't hire them direct. They make the staff set their own company up to avoid that and other taxes. 3) I know for a fact Ryanair puts in minimum fuel and tries to force ATC to give priority because of it. 4)compare bamboo Airways domestically in Vietnam or Nok Air in Thailand or Air Asia Philippines domestically. They are similar price and provide alot more bang for buck. 5) refunds with Ryanair is an issue. 6) Ryanair famously won't call the jets max publicly because of the rep of the crashes. Is it misleading customers? But hey sure don't call them that bad... You could pay me to fly Ryanair and I still won't fly with them... I have principles lol

"Passengers are responsible for fewer emissions." (03:05) Go on, tell us - which ones, then? As you say later, with more passengers per flight, the average amount (not number) of emissions generated per passenger is less. 🤔 I guess this also takes into account that an aeroplane with a heavier payload also burns more fuel, at least on take-off?

Where one loo used to be - as he got rid of it! You know he asked about having stools instead of full seats to save space? It's a wonder it isn't standing room only with parachutes for every passenger, then offloads everyone at 2,000' from a ramp, rather than pay landing fees. That is just not true Alex, and frankly unjustifiable. I detest the atrocious service and total lack of help that a person with any modest disability gets with Ryanair, and I was forced to fly with them a couple of times. Ryan air then put the 'Disability seats' in the least accessible place, so they can not be reached. If you book the lift-on because you can not walk, the seats are too far away to get to. The software forces the allocation and there is no alternative. I know many who have flown with them and say NEVER AGAIN, but then I was in and around Aviation as an industry for years. Once bitten, never again. And remember, Anyone can have an accident at any time that stops them ever walking again. It is not a lifestyle choice and doesn't stop you wanting the same type of holiday with your family.

Does Ryanair lease or own its planes?

Bingo. Same with Spirit and Frontier in the US. The fights and animalistic behavior happen on the same airlines over and over again. Most people don't even take first class because of the luxuries anymore - they take it to avoid dealing with a a horrendous clientele. It's sad that if you can't pay thousands of dollars, you have to put up with slimeballs.

Ryanair is bad because it lands too bad and the reception has to trick you into buying things that you already have

I never had any. Worst landing ever was a Ryanair when it was smacked down hard by a French pilot at Stanstead.

I don't like Ryanair because they treat their passengers like cattle, their airfares are not as cheap as advertised unless you can wear your weekend's clothes when you board. No seatback pockets! Also some of the weirdo Daily Mail reading public they carry from the UK.
