Honestly, for £1395 it looks like a great buy. Love the wheel trims, and with air conditioning. Drive it straight to the Festival if the Unexceptional… stay cooler than I did last summer in my Classic without AC totally feeling the love for it! Even though the key buzzer sounds like a demented budgie!

Light bar, air con, clean MOT, velour, fresh oil and filter, demented budgie - all this for a bargain one-three-nine-five. It's a steal!

You forgot to mention that it's a media start. Worth every penny for the connection to the greatest tat channel on the net.

It astounds me how these cars were considered so uncool in period are now gaining such a devoted following. This looks to be a really nice example too so I'm sure it will find a new owner very soon.

Best of luck with the sale, glad to see she’s still looking tidy. It was a great car but don’t miss the buzzer 😂

Thank you! It's a great car, but the buzzer won't be missed!

It’s all about the light bar, reminding me of a clash between my green plastic light saber and my neighbor’s red light saber in 1977. Those toys took us galaxies far far away from Watford. “Lazy Night Rider” aside, that Proton light bar is clearly more robust than our Star Wars light sabers, which we destroyed within an hour. Since ‘93 that flimsy looking piece of tat has seen off a million flies, buckets of grit, salt and and a larder of road kill. Truly remarkable. A few points - reckon you could silence the key buzzer with a hammer; the car is too small, it has no cup holders so isn’t really practical as a car, the Citroen SM had a more beautiful glazed nose, even the number plate was under glass. And, on a final note, Don Henderson, a friend of Michael Elphick, had his own series called Strangers. A typical late ‘70 cops flick but worth watching for an endless supply of Petrolblog friendly motors. Liked the reference to the car park in Get Carter (demolished recently after years of arguments about historic heritage). Hope you find a buyer soon - it’s a steal.

Strangers is a new one on me, but I'll check it out. Cheers!

£1395 is a steal for a car of such high calibre. It was originally supplied by Westbrook Cars of Westbere near Canterbury, which was the go-to dealer if you lived in east Kent and wanted a Lada or Proton back in the day. I bet that selling this particular car was a major event for them :) The standard-fit Blaupunkt stereo was a major selling point of the Proton, which l vividly remember that Westbrook Cars extolled in their local press adverts.

Yeah, it spent the best part of two decades in Kent. Must see if I can source some original press ads.

Nice car and so refreshing you don't have to control the climate & fans from that small infotainment screen. They were ahead of the game there with their fancy separate heating controls
@Petrolblog Жыл бұрын
Yep, I much prefer the old controls and switches.

I just know that if I was still in the market for my first car, I would have enquired about this (hell, I'm still tempted to). A beautifully fit for purpose car that looks cool nowadays due to its obscurity - and of course, the front and rear blendes!
