which circuit .......by this circut using (4026 ic) or 8051 microcontroller.......... it is very easy to decrement number like 7,6,5,4 in 8051 micro-controller just you need programming knowledge.............. In (4026 ic) you can't decrement number ....it's onty increment number like (0,1...9). But you can reset any number to zero in (4026 ic) using pin 15 of ic which is rest pin.

Sir, i want to do the same ,but with 2x 7- segment display which when i turn my hand up to IR proximty sensor. The first display will count up and when i turn my hands down it will count down. My question is which IC do i need to realize this project?

you can't do that thing with this ic or this project ......it's only increasr number........you need a programmable microcontroller / developer board like arduino/raspberry pi...... it' will be better to do that thing with arduino ......very soon i will upload arduino tutorial and do that thing........

of course u can do.... with 8051 microcontroller and need to programmer and connect another way .... but to do this thing with 8051 microcontroller as like killing a mosquito using nuclear weapons

if you use arduino/micro controller with ultrasonic then the is "yes ...you can".......... but only using ultrasonic instead of IR...... in this same circuit ....it will give (ultrasonic) unwanted clock pulse continuously and 7 segment display number change without any block of object ........

5 volt dc better ......Ic 4017 can run with 18 volt as data sheet telling.....but 7 segment display ,ir thous thing will burn in above than 5 volt......or need to change resister value according to voltage

Voltage is 9volt so, which resistance is required

For 9 Volt ......No need to change 10k resistor which is conceded in pin 1 of the Ic but you have to change the restrictive 7 segment and IR transmitter resistor....in stand of 220 ohm you can use 330 ohm/ 420 ohm resistor
