I was in a past relationship where I was the immature one, and it ruined our relationship (partly), he taught me to be more mature by showing me my wrong behaviors and finally I was ready and mature enough for a relationship only after we ended our relationship. I feel so sorry for my ex for having to put up with me, but I am thankful and know that I was not the only one who had flaws. I am proud of myself that I grew and now found a healthy relationship with someone as mature as I am and its a perfect match.

the best part of all this is that being immature can be attractive if it has boundaries- boundaries which stop exactly when your partner is being harmed or doesn't know what to do- this shouldn't ever happen. So being childish and knowing where to stop is very very very attractive and even teaches ur partner to actually understand what u wanted to tell them.

Alexandru Aurel Yes, I agree, the person is older than I am by one decade, I am younger than the age of 21 currently. I am way younger than the abusive person that was hurting me during so many days of my life. The abusive person was actually very narcissistic. It is getting to me lately. True narcissism is not that common. Mostly it is immaturity. Very much looks like narcissism, feels like abuse. Sure, nothing to do with age. A true mature person wants to know you, wants to respect your boundaries, wants, needs. Able to communicate, get along, and sets you free. ☺

Just ended my 8.5 years relationship and never felt so relieved in my life. She kept saying that I was immature but in the end, it was her all along. Walking on eggshells was on point. I used to think twice before I speak because she got hurt so easily over little things. Then she gets mad for not telling the truth and say whatever is on my mind. She gives me silent treatment all the time and when I try to talk to her, she said that I should know already like I’m a mindreader. I avoided my friends just to make her felt secure. I gained 60lbs so she wont get jealous of other girls looking at me. Now I will find someone who would truly appreciate me for who I am.

maturity is so weird especially when you’re a teenager with a brat for a mother, and you’ve been taught it’s okay to hurt people when you’re angry, etc etc. like just.. whew. i’m going to be loving though, for myself and others. it’s much more sweeter being a lovely person. god bless immature people because most of the time they lack guidance, love, and discipline in their lives. they’ll get there yall. just love them from far away

There's also one critical red flag of immaturity: often change of partners after a short period of dating. It means the person is only capable of the 1st stage of romantic relationships, but isn't capable to move to the next stages where you have to take responsibility and do something beside dancing and eating in a cafe.

There are alot of people with different problems and reasons. Some might have a diagnosis like Asberger or whatever. Some might be socially afraid. Some might not now what they know or maybe the reason is that they know exactly what they want so they jump off the train as soon as they realize that they don't like it. Some might be to shy. Some might be pushed by their friends to date or not to date. Some might not be allowed by their parents and need to quit. Some might not think that they are good enough. Some might have gotten a bad message like someone closely related have died or that they have cancer. So they can have instability in their life. Or maybe it's just in their personality. You don't know why they are like that and what they have gone through. It's that persons choice so what is your right to judge them. If they are a problem for you, then maybe you should check what is the problem with yourself. Lack of wiseness and understanding? If you have a problem with them, then just don't mind them. Or if it directly affects you, you can also ask them. But to generalise is extremely immature.

True. For a long time even I didn't think I was capable of loving someone past 6 months but once I'd been in a relationship and done the work on myself, because I was so afraid of committing I didn't know when love wasn't going to just fix everything and sometimes you have to let go even if you love them. After watching this, I blame myself less for breaking up because my partner at the time had at least 5 of these 7 issues in abundance. Hard to lose but harder to stay

You can grow and improve yourself. It's good to look at the past, but not dwell on it. You should look at what happened, where you went wrong, why, and how you can fix it. You should try to go for the root cause of the issue as it will resolve it permanently. You can get better, you just have to put the work in to do so. With hard work and perseverance, you can better yourself so you don't make your past mistakes again. Good luck my guy.

This goes for friends too. I had a friend who definitely had more than a few traits from this list. She is five years older than me so yeah, like a lot of people are saying in the comments, emotional maturity is not at all defined by age. Same here, I was trying to help her be less immature, she can admit when she's wrong (sometimes) but she never does anything to change it, and if she said she would, it was never clear of any efforts they made. Just recently she decided she didn't want to be friends anymore, and that's when I realized she never really had that much care towards the relationship and I was the only one trying to keep together, so I ended things with them.

Why would I want to be in a relationship with a man-child??? Also, spoiler alert: Just because they act like children doesn't mean they're harmless like them 🙂

My advice for everyone who's reading this is: NEVER date someone immature, unless they're open to mature.
@Juuxr
@Juuxr 4 жыл бұрын
Update to my experience: 30th November we talked eye to eye with each other. Everything was a pretty bad misunderstood, from both sides. He apologized for the ghosting, and I apologized for not being comprehensive/being too emotional (he's studying for his final project/presentation to graduate and is super overwhelmed, and so I, who's studying to be accepted for college, so we both are really struggling and stressed). We both love each other so much that this time we were separated gave us the affirmation of how much our relationship and love are intense and truthful. We opened our heart and we decided to fight for our relationship. And it's going on pretty well, actually way better than before. So I recommend strongly to all, to be 100% honest and open minded to your partner. No space to be right or be the victim. The wholesomeness of the relationship is more worthy than this. NEVER stop talking 100% to your partner without giving a soulful explanation. ALWAYS be careful of how you express your feelings, remember to ALWAYS think how the other can understand what you will say and how can he/she feels listening to your words. Be emotional responsable. ALWAYS remember you are dealing with a imperfect human being just like you. It's about the perfect acceptance of an imperfect person. Hope my experience can hope you. (If you are ghosted, my advice is to be honest to how you feel, speak it and then go live your life. Just do it one time, this way you've made your part, being emotional mature. Try to be calm and to not overthinking. Ghosting actually says more about what the other person is or what he/she is passing through or what he/she is feeling, than about you.) (If you are ghosting, I advice you to stop it now and to explain to the person why are you doing it, even you've already made this before. To listen actively to what the other will say, and them stop talking for a determined time. This way you can have your time to reflect without being unresponsive to the others feelings. (Sorry for my bad English. )

I'm sorry to hear that, that's disgusting :( Unfortunately a lot of the older women in my life say the same thing. It is as though they think it's in men's DNA to act this way when really it's because of people like them enabling that kind of behavior. My brother is the epitome of immature but no one does anything because that's just "who he is". If I were you I'd stop taking relationship advice from her... Best of luck.

I was angry at them, I'd tell them why, they wouldn't listen. I was angry at the lack of care. I'd say it nicely a few times and it never got through. I should've just left if behind the first time.

Yep, that's what I think too. To stay in that toxic relationship made me toxic too because I got so impatient with his passive aggressiveness. Silent treatments, shouting, name calling, and also dishonesty and parts illoyalty, I am angry now all the time and toxic, I'd say.

Yeah, this really hits hard. I really want to pursue a relationship with someone, but I know I’m very immature. I try to be more self-aware, but I sometimes can’t help but act on emotions I know are irrational. I hope I can improve this about myself over time though. 😊

Had to react to this as soon as I read it. I very much feel the same. How many times have I noted my immaturity in hindsight, yet in the moment, I always resort to old ways of dealing with critique. I keep aiming at improving this, but as soon as the heat comes up, I get cornered in my mind. It will take time, indeed😔

I addressed these issues to them that I've been bottling for a whole year and after giving them another chance to grow. I see their growth and its improving but I just dont want to be in the relationship anymore. I feel tired and indifferent towards the relationship and I dont feel happy being with her, I just feel lost, drained, and jaded from the relationship. Thank you for the video, it gave me the courage to end things with her and just move forward with my life right now

People need to be very careful and honest with themselves before accusing someone of blame shifting. Sometimes this is done to victimise someone: and it's the classic "deny, attack, reverse victim and aggressor" - deny that they are a victim, victimise them, accuse them of victimising themselves. I discovered with my new therapist that that was what my previous *therapist* had been doing to me...mistreating me and accusing me of playing the victim

I am so glad that I told them off, and now things are getting better. To someone reading this, if you're in a toxic relationship with an immature person, just do yourself a favor and cut them off. Trust me, it will all get better later on. They can bullshit you all they want, but at the end of the day, when will it stop? Take my advice and get the hell out of that relationship or friendship. You will thank yourself later on. And if that immature person left you, they did you a favor!

But I continuously realize that her love doesn’t depend on the affection she gives me and that I shouldn’t expect any if I give some to her. I’m a very love giving person. & not everyone is the same. I’m still trying my best to learn that and to not hog the person to myself. I may not be the most mature but I am definitely aware of my mistakes and of the areas I can improve on. Becoming aware is the first part, acting on the awareness to create a change is where the actual change will happen. If your girlfriend is pointing that out to you then you are now aware, show her the change you set yourself up for, and live by the values you want to have. If she sees that she will hopefully reciprocate and be mature and love you even more. Don’t let go of who you are just for her, instead stand by who you are and she will support. Also communication is key.

I think this not only applies to romantic relationships but also close friendships. I had a best friend who met most, if not all, of these markers. It constantly felt like I was walking on eggshells because any kind of critique would be taken as a personal attack, they would always trigger me even after repeated requests to quit doing the trigger, and would also try and do passive-aggressive vaguebooking on social media regarding issues when we were living together instead of communicating their frustrations. I have since left that friendship behind me and have started letting go, thanks to these videos. They really give me an added perspective to the closure I never got as a form of much-needed catharsis ☺

Only thing is he was also physically abusive, trying to take control of my finances, liked to make me responsible for all of his faults, and would say the most heartwrenching and cruel things. Being with him was exhausting! I'm so relieved I'm safe now and can feel rested for once.

I had a friend who guilted me too. She was severely mentally ill, and although she was seeing professional treatment she wasn’t cooperating with them much and instead was talking to me instead. I couldn’t handle it and worsened my own anxiety and depression. It was so stressful. I stayed for way too long because I felt bad for her and she doesn’t deal with abandonment well. I’ve been a lot better since cutting her off. I hear she’s doing a lot better now and I’m happy for her but won’t rekindle that relationship

Kiki Dude the guy I was friends with straight up refused to get any kind of help whatsoever and was just “but you’re my only friend, you’re my art teacher, don’t leave me” and after I exploded at him (this was before his birthday. I talked to his girlfriend about how I was sorry that I exploded at him and I was sorry she got dragged into the situation. She was dragged into the situation cause he told her I was trying to cut him off and sent her to stop me and convince me to stay. I gave her his birthday gift for her to pass on.) and after someone asks me how I’m doing with art in a group chat, I say I have to quit because of family trouble; he explodes at me saying I’m the reason he’s depressed and I deserved to be told off. This is coming from a dude who also doesn’t take abandonment well (at all. if I tried to cut him off several times before and he guilted me to stay) and after I told him off saying “why couldn’t you just have an argument with me in Direct messages instead of the group chat” he had the nerve to still try and guilt me into being his friend

Some of it was protest behavior from my anxious preoccupied attachment style which was made more intense being with a dismissive avoidantly attached woman. ... I never had relationships because I wasn't attractive enough or ever one of the cool kids but I had "friendships" like this.. where I was basically the lapdog of each friend. In reality i was just being selected by "nicer" bullies who hung around me and teased me, as payment for keeping the real nasty bullies away. Eventually I stopped having friendships or anything after graduation. Been happily isolated ever since.

Sounds like you need to see a therapist. learning to have clear and healthy boundarys, and learn about narcissism and codependency issues might also help. Total isolation is not healthy. Beeing introverted is normal/functional, but this is not the same as total isolation because you think " all people are bad". Reality is that there is almost 8 billion people on the planet and you have only meet a fraction of them. When you learn about " redflags" of narcissism you learn who to " choose to have in your life" and who to let go.

@@Ikaros23 Thank you for the guidance. I have been considering therapy or some kind of something to face that fact, that I prefer the isolation. I really was shown a different reality and need to wipe away all the blood off the lens of how I view mine. You're right, it really isn't healthy to be used to being isolated to this point of preferring it.

And then after leaving my home finally I was able recognise the source of problem, instead of blaming myself. I'm 22yrs old and seeking therapy for anxiety rn. My dad is 47 yrs old and still unaware of himself, hasn't changed a bit. I've tried talking to him, to seek a psychiatrist (for which 1.he refuses that he needs one 2. Has a lot of stigma like going to psych will make him crazy🤦‍♀️). And I'm still trying. Please don't decide to have kids before resolving your past traumas.
