In fairness both are in the wrong. Jonathan is very controlling person. Not letting her hang out with her friends is a big red flag for more serious stuff down the road. As for her, you live in the day where everyone has a phone. Leaving a note somewhere in which it could get lost seems like a last ditch effort to cover her story. Its far easier to just send a text and let the other person know that they're hanging out with an ex. I don't blame him for being mad.

I don't think he is in the wrong, the only reason an ex wants to stay friends with you is if he thinks he can get another chance with her. Flirting with other guys is cheating and he should have been the one to break up with her. I’m on Jon’s side. Seeing an ex with your friends as a group is one thing, but grabbing drinks with an ex at night without telling your boyfriend ahead of time is a big no no. He isn’t just a friend, he is an ex. Don’t matter when. Jon is anxious about it because he may not know what she’s thinking, but he knows what the other guy is thinking. Guys know guys better than girls, girls know girls better than guys. Only reason the ex is agreeing to grab drinks with her alone is because he still had feelings. Also, who the heck leaves a note with vague information? Just send a text letting Jon know what ur doing. If it’s that big of a problem to address with ur boyfriend that ur going out to get drinks, you obviously have some unresolved resentment towards him you never spoke about. If this is something you did bring up however and you’re still afraid he’s controlling you and being narcissistic, you should have left him to begin with.

It is the nature of guys to be overprotective for one who they really love and don't want to loose but this is over kill type of situation. Normally I used to get kinda jealous too when I saw my girl laughing with her male friend (only when she laughed i get jealous and not at other things) reason behind that was I loved to make her laugh.
