I liked the card cut design, the patterned roller, the extruded handle, the handle made from the top 1/3rd bent over and attached , the handle made by cutting the rim almost off then bent and attached. As you can see by the list, most of the handle ideas I liked. Thanks Ann, another thought provoking video turning the simple handle into something special😊

Thank you for this beautiful solution to being a terrible handle puller! Your video is awesome, showing simple steps to getting a great solution to a frustrating process for me. Very clear instruction. I am inspired to go out to my studio and finish the mugs I threw the other day with your neatly done handles...yeah! You have saved me lots of frustration and clay!

I LOVE your "classes!" You are a great inspiration and you create amazing work with the simplest of tools and so much patience. As a novice potter it would have been very helpful if you'd included how you actually attached the handles, given that most of these had designs. I can't imagine how you could have done it without wrecking the pattern!

I'm using Standard English Porcelain #365 and about 1 pound for a 4" mug and a bit more for the larger mugs. Because each of my mugs are custom (I'm not a production potter) the weights will vary each time based on clients request.

Ann, I struggle with the "timing" of adding the handles. What is the proper amount of dryness for the mug and handles. Do you have a rule-of-thumb? 4 hrs drying? 1 hr ? or other easier way to determine the "when to add." Thanks so much.

How long after throwing did you wait to cut the handles from the top Are they leather hard?
@LittleStreetPottery

I typically put handles on right after I throw the piece - not quite leather hard. The key is to be sure to match the clay hardness - if the piece is leather hard, then put a leather hard handle on it.

Without pulling a handle, the molecules are not aligned, making for a handle with less integrity, i.e. it will break more easily than a pulled handle. Throwing the handles, as demonstrated, is a better way,.
