I remember when we were little, mom & daddy & us 3 kids would get in the car and ride around for literally hours looking at all the Christmas decorations. But no radio was played...we sang Christmas sings the whole time! I never have understood how my mother knew so many Christmas songs!!! Then when we returned home, Santa had come so we got to open our presents. Back then, in the early 60's, we were led to believe that Santa came early on Christmas eve night b/c he had soooo many houses to stop at. So as little kids, we never questioned it. Hey we had presents we didn't care. Lol. Besides, Christmas day was so busy traveling between 2 grandparents houses for family dinner we never had time to play with the presents at home until late Christmas day. What wonderful memories. Thank you bringing those to mind.

My favorite memory was putting out sparkly reindeer dust with my boys so Rudolph could find his way. My youngest was always so meticulous in the placement! Then we would go inside and have hot chocolate and cookies. I Miss those days!

No winter here in Tropical Queensland (Australia) so I have never seen a Cardinal 😪 Guess the Byzantine Door and Cardinal Quilt will be the closest I ever get! I would have loved to see an image, but definitely my favourite anyway 😍

I remember my mother insisting on putting the tinsel on the tree one (she called them icicles) strand at a time. Back in the 50's they were made with lead and hung so much better than the tinsel of today. When lead icicles were no longer available due to health hazards, after Christmas she carefully removed them and packed them away for the next year. She also bought up all the packages of lead icicles she could find and used them until well into the 70's. I remember her sadly announcing when she had come to the end of her stash. Time and the inevitable tarnishing and breakage had claimed the last of them. (She tried the fly away aluminum tinsel one year and refused to do so ever again.) Also I love metallic fabric for the holidays and have started on my Christmas projects. I love searching for and coordinating fabrics and am envious whenever I watch your videos. I want to jump through the screen and touch (fondle?) all the gorgeous fabrics too.

Always one strand at a time! We lived in a mobile home-my Dad helped build the highway network in the northeast. I remember worrying how Santa would get in thru the little chimney😊

Mom always took out the decorations and the tree the weekend before Christmas and all of us kids would help decorate. Usually that week mom would have all the gifts wrapped and she would let us put the tags and bows on all the gifts. I still remember how the names were written small on the wrapping paper so we could know who to make the tag for. The rule was that you couldn’t do your own. So many traditions…. And remember- for the okder kiddos- If you don’t believe, you don’t receive…🎁

Hello Donna and Fran, I think the quilt pattern for poinsettia flourish, the squares in the quilt blocks. Would look wonderful with family names mom's, dad's, and each child's name, embroidered in each block. And yes that's extra work, but I think it would personalize the quilt so much and the family receiving it would love it. Thanks for all the videos on all the different kits to buy. Looking forward to seeing more.

When I heard you talk about Byzantine having 12 blocks, I imagined adding an extra piece of fabric to the front of each one to form a pocket. This could make a 12 days of Christmas Advent calendar. Pop a little surprise in each pocket for extra fun leading up to Christmas. 🎄

@@FabricCafe Most fish are attracted to shiny things. That’s why you often see something shiny attached to lures. I have always said I must be part fish because I am definitely attracted to shiny ‘things’ on fabric. Love you and your family. Wish you continued success with your business.

How does the metallic hold up? How about washing it? Do you have to iron from the other side? Can you use starch?
@mariejohns1387 Жыл бұрын
I have used metallics before and they are no different than any other fabric as far as care goes. Color-wise … they just add another level to your blocks! Beautiful vibrant color!

Marie has it right. We treat it no differently than any other traditional cotton fabric. Fabric manufactures have gotten very good about their metallic lines. So we get to enjoy the benefit of a showy quilt without any cons!

Another great video :) Was there any reason why we didn't get all images? Usually there are ones for each quilt when it's different to the demo one. The cardinals would have been lovely and I think Garland was missing. So look forward to your videos each week and it was hard hanging out an extra day this week!

Hi Helena! We try to do as many images with the fabric as we can, but sometimes we have to pick and choose which ones to make due to time constraints. If we could we would always show every quilt image we could! Thanks so much for watching and spending time with us. We missed everyone on Tuesday as well!

I'm buying 3 kits but don't see anywhere in my cart that shows I am getting the free Patriotic quilt patterns book. I am holding my order for your response. Thank you.
@FabricCafe Жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, unfortunately this happens often due to a limitation of our hosting site. After you select your 3 kits, continue through the checkout process. Once you arrive on the final page of the payment screen, there will be an "add order comments" box below the payment option. It is there that you can write in the book you would like. We would also be happy to help place the order for you over the phone to avoid any confusion. You can give us a call at 903-509-5999. Thank you!

Sometimes their sample quilts have been made with older lines of fabric that are no longer made or in stock. That's why they show new kits to use and sometimes they are similar but never the exact same. Hope this helps!

Hi Yolonda! Lili is correct! Many of our quilt models are made with older lines of fabric that are no longer available 😥 But we still want to show them off for inspiration as well as select new fabric kits that are similar in feel.
