0-200kph in 0.8 seconds is surprisingly only 7g. the occupant could easily survive that but the laws of traction say no and I suspect it will do 0-200 in 2.5seconds without some kind of secondary force to either create artificial down force, like a suction fan drawing air out from under the car , Or a active propulsion system like elons rockets.

Top fuel dragsters can reach 160 km/h (100 mph) in 0.8 seconds, and reach speeds of 539 km/h (335 mph) at the end of their roughly 3.6 second runs. They pull somewhere around 4 - 5.6g throughout the run.

The axial flux motor was originally patented by Nikola Tesla in the late 1800's. And regarding the PCB motor - one of the engineering problems that still needs to be overcome is having the traces on the board come loose under high torque and braking (regen) cycles. They get hot and Lenz forces can literally tear them off the board when the adhesive gets soft from the heat.

My only motor design I've thought of that I haven't seen made yet is a brushed counter rotating motor. It's much simpler than the counter/contra rotating motor in your vid as it's simply a brushed axial stator and permanent magnet rotor, each on their own bearing. The only use I could think for it was for counter-rotating propellers.
@PrivateSi

@Scott Menard . Magnets are well studied. a micro cassette tape, smaller than a DAT tape can now hold 500TB (0.5 Petabytes) of data... Hard drives. 'Permanent Magnet Printing' can manipulate the magnetic field with high resolution accuracy.. Unfortunately, a Neodymium + Lithium economy is far, far less green and easy to recycle than a Carbohydrate + iron and aluminium economy... I prefer my reciprocating, single cylinder, 1 STROKE I.C.E. design, with combined 'ring piston' heat engine.. The combustion chamber at each end is an impeller.. It's a radial engine - the whole, compact engine spins.. Compression and Power stroke combined and two way, hence 1 STROKE!

3:24 - PCB motors have been around for decades. They were typically only used in low load applications with limited space allotments (such as old hard drives). CORE, a green power company made great strides in PCB motor development in the mid 2000's. Several experimental versions were tested for the wind energy market. To my knowledge, all that remains of any consumer sized goods were acquired by MTD/American Yard Products. Their brands (Cub Cadet, Snapper, etc.) marketed string trimmers incorporating CORE PCB technology. PCB has spelled the future for electric motors and generators for some time. Until the last decade, we lacked the technology to appropriately control them. The materials cost savings, reduced rotor weight, and the possibility to use of silver traces... all combine to offer a motor with more performance density and efficiency, at a lower cost of production and packaging benefits. The problem with PCB motors is their duty cycle is comparatively low, for lack of adequate cooling options.

That Infinitum design is an AWFUL LOT like the thought process that went into designing Fishman Fluence pickups. Fishman Fluence are next gen electric guitar pickups that are made with a stack of PCBs instead of a traditional coil around a magnet design. They are getting rave reviews and they have eliminated virtually all the consistency problems associated with traditional designs. Good stuff.

A 30HP PCB motor? Other than longevity that's ready for production. Put one on each rear wheel or even all 4. A big difference between a "60 HP" electric and 60 HP gas is the torque. A Geo metro needs to peak out RPM to hit that 60HP. An electric holding at 60HP from the start is going to be just fine in a vehicle. In drag racing they have spare engine blocks. I'm sure standard practice is swap out all motors after each pull lol

The foundational idea is simply a flywheel...A well balanced flywheel will generate energy effortlessly
@xenuno
@xenuno 3 жыл бұрын
What foundational idea? A flywheel only gives up energy by giving up angular velocity. If you use the flywheel as a rotor as well and maintain a set RPM, there is no inertial torque transfer except on very brief time scales. The flywheel in this sense is merely a conduit for the motor. So to get energy out in a longer term steady fashion, you would need a CVT. With a single motor-flywheel, constant-steady torque would require the motor to satisfy current requirements PLUS spin back up to target RPM, that is if you want to again .. use the rotor as flywheel.

That's the thing with inventors and discoverers: they discover something, they make the real breakthrough, but nobody hears about it, until some rich motherfucker steals their idea and starts production in bulk, and then the stealer becomes famous as "the discoverer". Most people to this day believe that Eddison discovered light bulbs and electric motors, Marconi invented radio, Einstein discovered Relativity, and Newton invented calculus, etc.. They're all wrong. The real inventors and discoverers can be known only if you dig deep through obscure history of science.
