I had a brain injury and lost my ability to balance. I no longer wear pointed heels as I can’t walk gracefully in them anymore. So now I wear wedges, or a slight platform with a 2 inch lift, or a slightly chunkier heel. I still feel feminine and pretty with the added confidence that I won’t embarrass myself and everyone else by falling. Here’s something interesting for ladies with this problem. I became very stooped over and hunchbacked from using a walker, then from having to look straight down at the ground to learn to balance with my eyes rather than my vestibular system. It turns out that wearing a slight heel puts enough of an arch in my back to straighten my entire posture and correct the stoop! Of course, I practice, practice, practice.

Hello Marie-Anne and thank you for your video! I like the espadrilles best because they give my feet a bit of coverage. My feet are still quite fine but at my age they are more bumpy and boney, AND need more support under the arch. So I go for more covering for bumps and more support for standing and walking. Xxxx

They are the perfect shoe when I'm going somewhere that we will be on grass, but I don't want to wear flats or sneakers. I remember wearing clogs in the 70s. They were fun and looked great with jeans. I've always loved strappy sandals. As I've aged, I have had to lower my heels, unless the shoe has good support. Therefore, my strappy sandals have to have a fairly low heel, but I still love them. xo~linda

I am currently wearing a brace on my left ankle and the only pair of shoes I can wear are my navy Keens that strap around my ankle. I get compliments on them as well. My feet are small, so these are the kid size shoes while my grey Keens are in a woman's size, without the Velcro that straps around the ankle.

For women who say they can only wear flats, try a short wedge and you may be surprised. One summer I wore a 2" wedge sandal from Aerosoles as I was playing tour guide to out of town friends. A lot of walking! Many espadrilles have 1-1/2" wedges. Low block heels are another choice for stability. A slightly elevated foot looks less clunky than flats. I tend to pound my heels when I wear flats. Not attractive.

|I owned a shoe shop from the early 80's and always made sure I stocked wedges and espadrilles for the Summer. I remember an 8cm high wedge mule, in a pale gold metallic, ruched nappa leather, which I sold to a customer going on a cruise. She returned to the shop after her holiday to say, that of all the shoes she'd packed, the wedge mule was the only one she wore. It was comfortable and stable enough to wear with shorts or a skirt for sightseeing on shore days. It was perfect to wear by the pool with a swimsuit and sarong. The pale gold colour elevated it to an evening shoe for the ship's gala nights, and she even wore it in her cabin as a slipper. It was the perfect Summer shoe. I don't think I'd ever had such a happy customer, so I made sure I always had such a shoe in stock from then on. I no longer have my shop since I retired, but I still have many wedges and espadrilles in my wardrobe.

I've worn most of these, even though I have bad feet, except for strappy sandals (not enough support for the sides of my feet) and gladiator sandals (not meant for curvy legs). You have to buy the right size, and you may have to buy more than one size if your feet swell that much. Most of these shoes are intended for non-working hours, as well; they are meant for social occasions. Totally inappropriate for a working day. I would have thought most women would understand that as a matter of course. 🤦♀️
@sinbadrockstar82192 жыл бұрын
@@christinemeleg4535 I understood what you meant. Nurses wear uniform shoes at work, after all. After working so hard on the job, your feet need serious pampering off the job. From this list I recommend the wedges, clogs, and slingbacks in a modest heel.

You would not have to wear high heels if they don’t work for you. There are plenty of stylish flat sandals, mules, and clogs that are comfortable and not ugly. Try them on at the end of the day when your feet are most swollen and make sure your toes can move. Try a larger size or a wider size if they feel tight. If they are still uncomfortable, don’t buy them.

I think wedges look much better not on thin legs (too heavy), but on sporty, normosthenic or even hypersthenic types of figures. As said already, try to play with colours. Maybe darker bottom part of wedges will make the overall look lighter? Or, in the opposite, lighter bottom part will make your leg to look smaller and thinner?
