Fruits like kiwi, pineapple and a few others I can't remember right now actually prevent gelatine from setting, it will turn into thick liquid or at best chunky mush.
@somebarf3 жыл бұрын
iirc it can still work if the pineapple is in rings/thick cuts and has been dabbed with a paper towel. this would prevent the enzymes in the juice from eating away the gelatin as it sets

Me putting hot jello mix in the fridge: RIDIN! TO THE! DANGER ZONE!
@FranklySpeaking.4 жыл бұрын
*That's actually not true. the temp in the frdge drops only negligibly when you put a warm to fairly hot item in the fridge. the unit has a powerful cooling system and will compensate quickly. use a little more energy, but again the increase is negligible.*
@ErykaSoleil4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean it raises the temp of the fridge? You're actually supposed to put hot food into the fridge before it reaches room temperature, so it doesn't get into the "danger zone" (cue music!), and as Frank N points out, modern refrigerators are very powerful machines.
@valerief12314 жыл бұрын
I see that you have been well informed. But I imagine you learned this from your older family members and once upon a time this was considered true. My dad was under this impression too. He was raised very poor, and they still had an “ice box” that required a huge block of ice. I remember how much he loved our “modern appliances” even though he always referred to our fridge as the Ice Box, and the garbage disposal as a “garborator” LOL. He was born in 1937 and as a kid his father worked for Purina Ralston and for reasons I shall never have the answer too, as the entire family has passed on, they ate mostly cereal and drank a lot of milk, that was provided free to them. By 18 years old, my father had to get dentures. He only lived to 54 years old. Sorry for the long story, I just didn’t want you to feel bad about the other comments. I figure you’ve probably googled it by now and I just wanted to reassure you that you aren’t crazy, you definitely learned it somewhere lol.

@ErykaSoleil4 жыл бұрын
@@Weirdboxofchaos Well, I guess that depends what your comfort foods are, and how much you're eating of them. If you're eating a small bowl of vanilla ice cream before bed, you're probably okay. Eating a gallon of it? Not so much. If you're like me, and like spicy asian noodle dishes as a comfort food, then definitely not the best idea to eat those right before bed. 😆
