But I guess when you own the queer card in the UK, you're far more likely from being excused of everything even when coasting dangerously into segsual harrassment and gross imposition territory, than in other Anglo Saxon countries such as America or Canada (ahem, actor, producer, politician and filmmaker Kevin Spacey in USA or French Canadian entertainment mogul and TV host Eric Salvail-- who ironically did the exact same "pranks" than Barrowman and so much more around the same period) . No wonder why Rowlings can't leave her mansion, even after getting sent mediatically self-snitched deletion threats. My point is, they brought back Barrowman, but not Noel Clarke? Heck, even Billie Piper get brought back many times over on both the main series and on Big Finish audioplays, in spite of that _one time_ she delightfully bragged in 2007 on nationwide TV about her co-star David Tennant's reputably legendary virile prowess by nicknaming him "David Ten-Inch". Mate, had a male actor speaking this way on a talkshow about a fellow actress that he would've undergone the same treatment than The Family of Blo0d at the end of their titulary arc in series 3!

_Class_ had its own identity - it was about dealing with the scary and overwhelming Whoniverse through the lens of being a teenager on top of all the usual coming-of-age issues that entails. It reminded me a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the way it combined teen themes with external inhuman threats. Unlike in SJA (and to an extent Torchwood) there was no wise adult mentor figure to turn to (unless you count Quill but umm...). These kids had to struggle through alien situations on their own with no resources, on top of the challenges of young adulthood. Class died mostly because BBC mishandled it. It was one of the first shows on online-only, and they did almost nothing to promote it. IMO there was definitely an audience for it and it had the potential to do quite well if only BBC had supported it.

Yeah, no adult mentor. That's the problem. The Doctor left these children to fend for themselves. The blood of everyone lost in that show is on the Doctor's hands, which just contradicts the character too much for my liking. It happened basically just so the show can exist, but if it was more true to the character, he wouldn't let them stay there or he'd take some precautions to prevent such slaughter.

@@Domihork The problem is that 90+% of the Whoniverse is horrible and dangerous and the Doctor can't be everywhere at once. In their own show they usually solve the immediate crisis, then move on. Sometimes that permanently eliminates the problem, other times it's a stopgap at best. There are even a few stories (eg. Boomtown, Planet of the Ood) about dealing with the consequences of loose threads that the Doctor left hanging in earlier adventures. I have no problem believing he'd do the same here.

So, I'm gonna give you a timeline of Doctor Who on German Television and home video. RTL Plus started broadcasting Classic Doctor Who in late November of 1989, starting with Season 24, followed by Season 25 and 26 running until July 1990. In early 1995, The Five Doctors started airing, followed by Season 23, Season 22, and finally, The Twin Dilemma. In 1998, The Movie was released direct-to-video. In 2008, ProSieben started broadcasting Series 1 and 2, but noticed that it wasn't very popular so they stopped releasing it. In 2009, Torchwood started airing, and apparently, it was a massive hit. Even a friend of mine claimed to have seen it in the past without even knowing of Doctor Who's existence. In late 2011 and way into 2012, FOX Channel broadcast Series 5 and 6, followed by Series 3 and 4 in late 2012. During the Christmas days of 2012, they released Series 7A and The Snowmen. Since then, Every series has been released within 1 year (more or less) of the original broadcast. Class was broadcast in early-to-mid-2017 on One (or Das Erste). Since August 2017, many Classic Doctor Who stories are being dubbed and released direct-to-video by Pandastorm, who mainly cover the Third to Eighth Doctors, and Polyband, mainly covering the first and second doctors. Additionally, Pandastorm has released the already dubbed stories of the Sixth to Eighth doctors from 2015 onwards on DVD for the first time, I think. Polyband also releases the DVDs for Modern Doctor Who and An Adventure in Space and Time. Polyband also dubbed and released The Infinite Quest and Dreamland direct-to-video. The Sarah Jane Adventures: Invasion of the Bane has also been released direct-to-video in 2019. Finally, the 60s Dalek films were dubbed and released direct-to-video in 2022.

I agree with all of what you presented. Except some ideas for spinoffs are better than others. I want UNIT, a Villains Anthology series, and maybe an Animated Companion Chronicles type series because DW has so much great voice talent available for spinoffs of that sort. It doesn't have to be partnered with Big Finish, but if it shared some of the same executive producers (which you can have as many named as you want/need) that would make things smooth and seamless and above all, Consistent. As someone who has spent a great deal of mental gymnastics making everything in Doctor WHO fit the same continuity, I appreciate any way they can make that easier for us Hard Corp fans!

Personally I assumed that was very deliberate. Teens already have to deal with some pretty horrible crap nowadays, and it's not like alien invasions would pull their punches just because the protagonists aren't 18 yet. "Ordinary kids having to deal with extraordinary (and horrific) problems" was the point IMO. I thought that *was* their identity, in a similar way that the juxtaposition between brightly-coloured superheroes with corruption and brutality is the point of _The Boys_. (Though obviously to a lesser extent).

Hello, I enjoy your channel. I wanted to let you know that perhaps there is another way to view Prometheus by Ridley Scott. Scott has always had an obsession with AI as evidenced by HIS Alien movies, Raised by Wolves, and Blade Runner. His films explore the potential uses and abuses of AI, and the concept of it being sentient. I would argue that at the heart of the Alien franchise (the Scott ones), the main antagonist is indeed the android. Prometheus and Alien Covenant further explore this, as I'm sure the last film will as well. Ridley Scott's movies are actually about the androids more than the xenomorphs. When you say that Prometheus is a departure from the lore, I'd have to disagree. Rather, I'd say it is a return to the lore. Thanks for reading.

Former companions like Ace, Teegan, and Martha should take on a recurring guest role, where every 2 or 3 episodes one of them might pop up to help out or introduce a threat. It'll keep them around enough to maintain continuity and familiarity, but not so much that the show struggles to establish itself beyond the main series.

As far as spin-offs I’d like, I want to have one following the Fugitive Doctor and the Division. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Timeless Child reveal, but I didn’t completely hate it, and I’d love to see something done with it. Perhaps we could see how the Division Doctor’s moral compass differs from that of the main show’s Doctor or other things that result from that Doctor and the main Doctor being different people.

This is basically my biggest problem with Chibnall's era - it introduced a bunch of potentially really interesting stuff then made the execution so terribly blah. I would totally watch a season or three of other writers taking Chibnall's ideas and redoing them better.

The thing is, arc aside, most of the individual episodes were just meh. A lot of them have very strong concepts behind them, then either just peter out, or have some sort of rushed ending. Spyfall is a classic example of that - the Kasaavin are a neat idea, invasion across time periods is neat, the idea of invading by first targeting espionage capabilities is neat, the Master reveal is neat, even the idea of using human DNA for its storage capacity is neat. Oh, and the idea of including Ada Lovelace and Noor Khan was neat. And then it all just kind of goes pfft in the second half. Ada and Noor follow the Doctor around and do nothing. The whole spy thing goes by the wayside. As far as I can tell so does the invading across time periods thing. And the Kasaavin are gotten rid of (across all time?) by waving the sonic at a statue. It's frustrating because there's so much in this era I *want* to like, but the execution keeps letting it down.

I wouldn't mind seeing an old UNIT show (2005-2010 era). Follow a squad of UNIT taking care of monsters and threats all while cleaning up after the doctor. Then have the entire CAST killed off for the end season at Stolen Earth. The group sacrificing their lives while holding off the Daleks as they help the Doctor's Family (Torchwood, Sarah Jane, Martha, Harriet Jones) to contact the Doctor. All of them being killed as a sacrifice to a man that none of them have ever met but a commitment thanks to one of the leaders of UNIT being Sargent Benton who explains that the Doctor is worth everyone of them. Even doing a Star Trek Voyager: "Year of hell" type of episode where the team have to live in the world of Turn Left and watch as the entire world crumbles. Helping Donna in the end to save themselves because its already too late. Or just do a new show because all of the above will be to expensive to make.

I like the idea from the Big Finish Gallifrey series that Brax was ordered to kill the Doctor but tipped him off instead and arranged an "accident" for the president who gave the order. And the impartial inquiry ruled it was a _complete_ accident. Brax should know. He was in charge of the inquiry.

Oh man, it sure would be nice to have any explanation/elaboration for the Fugitive Doctor, the Division, and/or the Timeless Child. Chibnall stated he didn't have any plans to tie up those storylines even if he had continued on the main show, and RTD has said he has no interest in pursuing them either. Give the Fugitive Doctor her own spinoff! Maybe even find a way to improve the 12th and 13th Doctor's companions and allies as characters! I _want_ to like them, so give them a chance!

One thing I would love for this to do is to touch on the darkness of UNIT, like the prisons shown in Torchwood where UNIT just lock people up in empty cells for their entire lives with no trial and no visitors. Also keep returning characters to a minimal. There's a problem in this fanbase where everyone wants every spin off to be rammed with returning characters. I've lost count how many times I've seen people say they want Torchwood back with Gwen, Martha, Yaz and characters from SJA. It completely loses what a spin off is for.

I really hope Kate and Osgood are not keys to the program. They probably need to be in the first episodes, while new (or big finish original) characters get fleshed out but mostly stick to a part of UNIT commanded by someone under Kate. That gives a reason her occasional, but not constant, involvement and allows other characters to lead, be replaced, and not entirely rely on one in demand actor being available. There is plenty that could be done with the Osgood, but aim to spread that out rather than loredump.

I really hope RTD doesn't keep running both DW and the UNIT spinoff, they should have different identities should standalone well. I'd love it if someone like Toby Whithouse, Neil Gaiman or even Moffat agreed to take over as the showrunner for UNIT as all of these writers are good at characters and high-concept plots. I think having a purely pg13 show appealing to adults could make UNIT into a better version of torchwood.

I want this to be good, but to be frank another "military vs aliens" show is possibly the least interesting idea for a spin off I can think of. Im sure itll be decent in its own right, but i'd much rather a spin off that did something more unique. I'm also going to have to massively disagree with you on class. Class is a genuinely good show, and is better than the 1st seasons of both torchwood and Sarah Jane. The reason it had no familiar characters is because it wasn't conceived of as a dr who spin off originally, and the reason it was cancelled was the bad title and the BBC giving up on it.

Also why is Rory so down on the list like guy literally stayed in the same place for almost 2 thousand years for the woman that he loved he deserved top spot just for that alone.

I don't know if Jemma Redgrave has the charisma or skill to lead a show. Whenever she happened to act besides Smith or Coleman her character looked so wooden and lifeless by comparison, they were in another acting tier like lead actors should be.

I want to see a spin-off based upon the time war but with mcgann as the doctor. It would give us more adventures for him whilst having the time war in the background. Here’s a few ideas of mine: Davros being the villain of s1 and then at the end of the season dying(as we see in s4) we could see mcgann becoming ever so closer to the time lord victorious like being argumentative against weapons completely in s1 and then not later on just a small detail to show how this war going through space and time is affecting the doctor. Now I know you don’t want to have too much focus on the time war so you could just use it as a background element with little bits actually starring the war. Just something Id like to see.
