Kiana and Kenny You should learn to draw because your profession would be drawing on people. You don’t have to be the best in the world at drawing but having a solid grasp on what you are doing is very important. You must be a good artist before you go into tattoos. It does not get easier, but harder. You should practice different art media and do drawings everyday before you try to do an apprenticeship. I've been an apprentice and a scratcher. no matter how good you think you are you gotta start somewhere if you take the craft serious. It's good scratchers out there that do proper and good work. This is some ok but one sided advice she's given.

does anyone know any exercises that can be done to get you ready for tattooing? i know there's not much like working with skin but i'm too young for an apprenticeship and would like to get ready for one if that's at all possible?

Is it a mess? I tattooed myself several times as a teen and did well. Now I want to learn for real.

I’m from the uk 16 turning 17 and am meant to go 6th form but I really don’t want to and feel it’s a waste of time I’ve been building up a portfolio and was thinking of taking it around tattoo shops I’ve got a job on the side for money. What do you think about quitting 6th form to focus on creating my best portfolio and risking getting work experience or an apprenticeship? It’s the only thing I desire to be so I’m willing to put my all into becoming a tattooist. The only thing is in the uk it’s kinda frowned upon to not stay in education till your 18 and makes getting jobs as an adult harder but i feel it’s bullshit that they teach you to just make you more employable.
