It's the same here in Sweden haha but the weather is even shittier. It's cold most of the time even in the summers and it's raining a lot too. It's 30 degree Celsius a couple of days in the summer other than that it is mostly 15-25. Is it the same in New Zealand or it's just warmer although the temperatures are quite similar to Sweden? Because i mean your landscape is completely different to Sweden but the difference is we have all 4 seasons and it get really cold in the winter, and in Sweden 20 degrees could be 'cold'. I really wanna know if it's WARM in New Zealand with those temperatures, is it tropical weather and heat? If somebody knows please help!! lol.
@toby9999
@toby9999 7 жыл бұрын
Ana Mira I think I would like the climate in Sweden as I hate the heat in summer and prefer winter. As for the NZ climate: The South Island is typically colder in winter depending on region 10C - 15C max. Even colder in mountainous areas. North Island is typically 15C - 20C max but there is a lot of variation again depending on the region. East is typically drier than the west. Central regions get snow but snow can also fall to sea level in the south island during winter. Summer is more about micro climates. The hottest and coldest places are probably both in central south Island. East is typically hotter, sunnier and drier. Average summer max ranges from 20C in Dunedin to 26C in northern regions. Napier has a more stable sunnier and drier summer and wetter winters while Dunedin is changeable with rain more evenly spread throughout the year. There are no tropical areas in NZ. The far north might be considered sub-tropical as the winters are mild. Auckland tends to be warm and humid in summer. Hope that helps.

I'm posting this as a New Zealander myself. For all of you who have mentioned things about us being racist towards Asians: I have lived here my whole life and have never encountered anyone who doesn't like Asians living here. And for those who say it's full of robbers and thugs: Sure, there are some shifty places in NZ, but there are shifty places everywhere! And finally, the accent: The Kiwi accent varies in different parts of New Zealand. I'm from Wellington, and I sound quite different to that. And as you get further south, the r's get more pronounced and people start sounding slightly Scottish.

86nugget19 No, they don't. I'm not sure where you got your information from but it's wrong. Tipping is not done in New Zealand. If you've ever seen someone tip in NZ then that's because it was either a foreigner that wasn't aware they didn't need to, or someone who has money to throw around and feels the waiter deserved some extra money because they did an excellent job. Mind you the latter only happens very very rarely. I know a lot of people who work in hospitality, from small cafes to high end restaurants. Tipping is not done here.

Don't forget to wave when you pass anyone waiting for you to get across a single lane bridge even if you had right of way, it's just what we do :) And watch out for 1. Kiwis always under estimate time of journey especially for tourists. If they say 5 hours. Plan on 8 hours so you can see the sites on the way. 2. Kiwis are shocking on the open road. Pretty polite in towns and cities but can feel aggressive on the open road. They tail gate, so best just to pull over frequently or slow right down to allow a person to get passed. 3. All Kiwis think it's tourists that cause all the accidents when only 3% of accidents in NZ are caused by a tourist P.S I am a Kiwi

Around 4% of people at any one time in NZ are tourists, so tourists are roughly equally likely to cause an accident.

I travelled in South Island for 12 days in 2006. What a beautiful country New Zealand is! Absolutely breathtaking and amazing. 13 days was definitely not enough time to enjoy the beauty of New Zealand but I had a fantastic time and made enjoyable memories in there. I would definitely go back to the places I have been. Of course Christchurch wouldn't be the same as it was in 2006 but it was a such wonderful cith with lots of kind people. I still remember this good chap called Kevin who helped me out when I was struggling with direction. And lake Tekapo is just !!!!! can't even describe its beauty in words. Bungee jump, speed boat, horse riding etc in Queenstown - stayed in there for three nights and it was too short. I am thinking to revisit this heaven in 2016 again with my other half this time. I live in Scotland and mostly things are quite similar but nothing can be prettier than New Zealand in my opinion. Highly & strongly recommend!!!!

Sadly there was a massive earthquake in there a few years ago so most of landmarks were badly affected, some of them collapsed. :( But I heard that many works have been done and it has new features now. I bet it is still beautiful. Surely you will fall in love. I t was just breathtaking and very impressive. I think that is why I still remember every part of my journey. Kiwis are very kind and helpful too. So if you have any problems, you will get helps without any problems. I wish I could visit there again, someday I will!!! :)

Another thing (I think) that is worth mentioning. If you're from the united states, there may be foods here in New Zealand that some people can't eat without having problems that you could eat in the US. I could eat any commercially grown eggs in the US, but commercially grown eggs in NZ give me cluster migraines. I could eat any soy sauce in the US but even Kikkoman soy sauce in NZ makes me feel like I have the flu. I could see not putting something like that in your video as it probably doesn't apply to many people, and I'm not griping, just a good tidbit. I know quite a few kiwis that can't eat those foods here either. If you're only here to visit and don't have time to figure stuff like that out it could really ruin your day.

I'm appalled at the rhetoric in these comments..talk about being ignorant, abusive & devoid of any social graces! Wherever you come from, or been to, its fairly obvious most of you haven't learnt anything from your fast travel experiences, least of all how to get on with people who don't hold the same opinion as yourself. I would advise you all stay home & grow up! I'm originally from Europe & have lived here for many years..love this place but like anywhere else you take yourself with you wherever you go...so maybe that's the problem!

Yes, and everyone is different - we had next door neighbours in Wellington, they were a couple from Switzerland. He loved NZ, it was his dream, I am sure he did skiing and snowboarding, he had been to NZ before. She hated it, she didn't have a drivers licence and the slog from the supermarket up hill to the their house I think frazzled her, she told me she desperately wanted to go back. We moved away I wonder how they resolved it... Anyway my main point is everyone is different, most "foreigners" I know think NZ is the best the people fantastic. Of course these are people who chose to move here, so that was always likely to be the case

The fact that there are people on here saying that NZ is a VERY racist country is completely understandable, yet simultaneously hypocrytical as they seem to put our country down in every way possible through horrific comments, that are seriously disgraceful. No country is bloody perfect, but we are far from terrible. Every place is beautiful in some way.

Yolza Brolza : There is no racism in NZ. You must mean Australia. I have lived in both countries before migrating to Canada. Canadians used to be like New Zealanders. Sadly, they (Canadians) have changed as life got tougher. New Zealanders are still as wonderful as they were when I first lived here in 1970. Even the young generations are still nice ppl. They are a happy lot!

Waiheke = 'Y' (as the letter) heck 'E' (as in the letter) Y - heck - E The trick to Māori pronunciation a - say it as in 'up' e - as in bed i - as in the aussie pronunciation of 'chip' o - as in or (if you don't role your 'rrr') u - as ughhh but keep it short If you see two vowels together say as above but quickly without making them to long If you see a vowel with a macron i.e. ā then lengthen the vowel sound wh - say as a soft 'f' sound i.e. whaka is fucka ng - as in bring, finger but don't make the hard 'g' sound like some english accents do r - is tricker to explain but if you say 'udder' with a lazy 'd' sound then that's how to produce it. All sounds are always produced so don't miss out consonants in the middle like a cockney LOL There are heaps of tutorials here on youtube if you really want to learn

I live in central new zealand in the north island in a rural area, and we have small planes that fly over the forests to kill the possums in the woods. They leave trails too but usually it's only one trail and only ocassionally. I think there are rules about where you can and can't spray and at which times though~~~ but I'm not 100% sure~~ ^w^

The "tipping is mandatory" is fucking ridiculous. You want food, so you pay for the food. Yeah sure, they cook it and bring it to you, but that's why the prices are also much higher than if you buy it at a grocery store. I think a tip needs to be deserved by the staff. If they treat me like a god and do everything right, I might leave a tip. But if someone comes up to me saying "You HAVE to leave a tip." I'll just haul ass and don't pay for anything.
