This video hits really close to home (literally). If you have any other thrifting tips, leave a comment below. I would love to start a thrifting convo to build a thrifting community

I've been thrifting since the 80s (that's how old I am). What I like about it is that you can get well made coats and clothes for less. (In the 80s we would get clothes from 40s to 60s which were made to a higher standard. Also when you thrift you can get colours which aren't current but are colours that look good on you. I have also mostly furnished my home with second hand furniture which I also find is of better quality. I watched a movie about living sustainably and realized I have been living like that for years. It was a good feeling.

It’s also so important to be patient. There will be days when you find absolutely nothing and others where you go ham 😂. Go with an open mind and some time and you’re more likely to find something you love

I literally share the same story! My parents sacrificed so much to send me to private school, and thrifting was my way of finding clothes I could actually afford. My mum was a huge thrifter so I learnt everything from her, and 8 years later I'm still thrifting and THRIVIN! Literally the best way to find unique pieces for incredible prices. My thrifting tip is to finding thrift style icons- HellaJam, you have SUCH a unique style and I get so much inspiration to look for pieces out of my comfort zone, and try to imagine how you would style it!

I agree that I don't follow all the trends too unless they suit me and I truly like them! I only buy what works for me and my style and what speaks to me as well!

I just turned 63 and have shopped at thrift stores all my adult life. My entire home is furnished from thrift stores (except my bed mattress); yard sales, flea markets, and hand-me-downs from friends. I love the 60s and 70s style. My clothes are thrifted. I do not follow trends. If I like it, I wear it. My age doesn't stop me from wearing something I like. I like your channel. I grew up in Hayward, lived 12 years in S.F. and I'm familiar with your area. You're right, shopping in the suburbs is so much better. Namaste!

I am Filipino American too! My parents immigrated here to the States as well although I don't think they had to struggle as much. Struggle, yes but just not as much since my Dad's parents had lived here for such a long time and had established a lot already. So, that set my Dad up for when he grew up and then married my Mom. I love thriftung too but never really out of necessity but more for the deals and the treasure hunt! My Mom never believed in second hand shopping; She only wanted to buy new but still not spend a lot of money. She liked to go clearance and sale shopping a lot! So, I didn't get into thrift shopping until I worked at a consignment shop about 10 years ago. I like your outfit in the video!

Cool channel!! Found you through your thrifted apartment video. Your backstory about your family is very relatable! Makes me think of my own family because my parents are also immigrants who are always saving and hoarding things! haha

I wish I had done this in middle school and high school . When my mom was a single parent. It was so hard for her to get clothes for me and my brother. At that time I would of feel embarrass or get teased on if anyone found out. But as I had grown up and got my first job at the Goodwill and found out it's not bad and more people I found actually thrift I knew. So I feel more comfortable and confident doing it. Also saving more money as a wife and mom now. I wish you was around or had KZbin up when I was in school back then. Lml

Another thrifting tip is to create a Pinterest Board of home decor ideas. Now, it's not realistic to go out an expect to find a particular item like you mentioned. However, you may be out and an item may catch your eye. Maybe that item you saw displayed on Pinterest. :)
