That’s the game that truly exposed Ronaldo. I was a die hard fan of Mourinho and CR7 at the time. I cried after that game because that was Mourinho’s first El clssico experience and both Mourinho and CR7 were absolutely humiliated. Media made the situation even worse for me by mocking Mourinho’s tactics and criticizing CR7 during the post game analysis. I just wanted Ronaldo to do some of the things Messi was doing but he couldn’t. He was on the half of the field throwing his hands in the air in anger because they couldn’t get the ball to him. He contributed nothing throughout the entire game. Messi, on the other hand, dropped deep, collected the ball, dribbled past avalanche of players, and finished it off with sublime assists and passes . He didn’t even score but he was outstanding. He was awarded the man of match. That’s when I realized that my friend with whom I used argue about who’s the best between Messi and Ronaldo was actually right. Messi is way better than CR7 when it comes to pure footballing skills. CR7 is not even close. CR is a great goal scorer I must admit, but Messi is an artist and a con man on the pitch, fooling players and making them look stupid. MESSI is the GOAT. We will never see another player like him. And Messi doesn’t dive during games even when fouled. Messi doesn’t cheat. He just loves to play the game.

Of course he knows he is not just trying to be smart and console himself. CR7 understands certain things in life. 1.If you keep talking about something for a period of time people will start believing it. 2. If you don't say you are the best you can never be the best. So many people believe this assertion😁😄. In summary respect, honour, praise, etc is not something you force people to do you earn it.
