I would suggest that if you are trying to create your own new unique bass sound, you use something else then a 808 bass that you hear in 99% of beats. Imagine going to a 5 day festival, hearing nothing but 808

I just recently started implementing Tip #2 and it changed the game. If you see which notes the 808 you picked sounds best hitting, you transpose your melody to the 808 instead of vice versa to get the most out of your 808

I use to mix at very low volumes, but i need to add, that mixing at very loud volumes with very flat responding speakers, your ears will make you feel if any sounds hurt and need trimming in hard frequencies haha

Nice video Cymatics! What I found out by referencing and stem separating my favorite trap songs is that the bass/808's always have the highs and high mids cut out. I always used to leave that in. They also don't have a high volume level combined with a kick. I tend to reference the 808's/Bass using a plugin like Voxengo Span and try to see what frequencies and levels the 808's sit at. Not much processing done other then eq. Sound selection is important though.
@the_handsome_bear10 ай бұрын
I used to have 3 or 4 plugins on the kick and on the snare. Once i took all that stuff off the mixes got way better. Most of the processed drum packs we buy dont need any more compression or saturation. Less is way more

Just a random questions. I've not some samples packs from your site. Are all your sound packs eq’d and compressed?

Turn master mono, and load up any EQ, SSL E Channel preferably, or Fruity parametric EQ 1. Bring low shelf fader all the way down and set to 340hz and high shelf all the way down and set to 3100hz. In SSL E Channel you can do 340hz and 3.1hz on the filter knobs. I use this filter on the master paired with mono to monitor level balance of all the sounds and adjust. It's perfect for making sure things hit on small speakers. Edit: 340hz and 3.1hz is my filter preset specifically for the SSL E Channel. Thise numbers may be slightly lower or higher depending which EQ you use

Best way to get 808 to hit hard is to sound design it correctly 1st and level it afterwards .. same thing for the kick
@doknox9 ай бұрын
Mixing quietly is hugely overlooked! Mixing at a lower volume and double checking the mix in mono are 2 things that really made my mixes 1000 times better. Also not mixing in front of clients is a good idea. Everytime i click it to mono someone is like i dont like that or if i have the volume down its can you turn it up its too low like it's gonna come out like that. Lol. Also had a guy constantly telling me what he thought i should do to the mix. Afterwards, he proceeded to tell me it sounded like trash and I didnt know what i was doing. 🤣🤣

When I try to input my email for online authorization, text input bypass cymatics plugin and it works as a key command on my DAW Logic Pro. In other words, I can not activate Diablo and Vortex on my m1 Mac if I am using Logic Pro as DAW. You'd better check them again.

Hey bro, what's your go to 808 vst? Don't have to give out any major secrets here, but what's a SOLID go to 808 vst that you may use to start creating 808s anyway? I use Sublab and Sublab XL which is frickin amazing! And you can plug individual 808 samples (from you for example lol) and build from there. But I'm looking for other ideas for amazing 808 vst instruments. Thanks again! Your the best out there bro 💯🔥 Oh! Dude, can you make some MIDI 808 bass lines? Like a pack with different patterns and structures... you could default the bpm to 120bpm since it's midi, but maaan, a pack with 808 PATTERNS would sell like hot cakes bro! 👊

There's really only 2 808s. Zaytoven short 808 and spinz 808. If u have those 2 u got everything. They are just processed different
@MikeyKnox92010 ай бұрын
@@the_handsome_bear are thise physical 808 samples or actual VSTs that produce the 808 sounds as you play them? Haven't looked into it yet, just saw your comment and replied quick. 👍

@@MikeyKnox920 they are just samples not vsts. You can download the samples into any one shit sampler. The cytomac 2023 808s kit has all the ones you would ever need if u looking for a particular sound pack. There are many that are good but that's a good start. I have sub lab too but I could never get the decays and releases to sound good on there for hiphop therefore I never use it

Serum is the best vst for 808 sound design, i used sub lab before but as soon as i got serum i never touched sublab again...
@MikeyKnox92010 ай бұрын
@@Adam-g-uk Yup, that seems to be the consensus. What do you think about Serum compared to Omnisphere? I get a 50/50 split of the time. Alot of poeple say serum is just easier to operate but Omnisphere is more extensive..

If you are worrying how your 808 is sounding on a phone speaker, you are wasting your time. Why would anybody expect bass to hit hard on phone speakers where mostly you cant hear any bass 🙃
@Skrenja10 ай бұрын
The best mixed songs sound decent anywhere. If your 808 isn't atleast audible on phone speakers, then you're doing something wrong.
@exposingyouthetruth644310 ай бұрын
@@Skrenja an 808 is a very very low frequency bass, if you wanna make it sound good on a phone, you are adding shit that just makes it sound worse. A clean good 808 that sounds fat on normal speakers is all you need. On the phone nobody is listening to bass anyway cause the quality is so bad and you cant hear the actuall bvass anyway. And with hearing the bass, i dont mean high frequencies of the bass. But the actual whole bass.

Not the ones with good distortion or low mids. You can have some at super low volume and still sound large cause of the dynamic range
