Just ordered mine. Looking forward to using these as my metal ring of steps is just too loud and heavy.

They could mould those steps with a slight radius on the back of the steps where the step contacts the tree, rather than flat. I bet they’d bite the tree better when tightened down.

We're already doing that:) Good idea!

I just received my steps and been climbing with them. I find them a little slippery. My hunting boots are rubber and not much of a heal on them. Just going to keep working at them and I’m sure I’ll get them down.

What hiking boots are you using? I noticed the bottoms are kinda flexible. When I use climbing sticks and a platform I’ve been using rigid bottom boots that help with the climb.

To be honest I don't hunt in those boots. I hunt in a rubber boot typically.

You talked about getting close to bedding and being quiet. No issues with using a ratchet when setting a ros close to bedding?

If you take your time and be diligent about attaching being quiet , and doing the things that make the ratchet stay quiet you won't make any more noise than the rest of your process will ...

Practice your climbing method and practice shooting from there. It’s gonna be different than ground shooting!

How do you hold and secure your bow in the tree? I am using a single point sling for my xbow.

I don't have a tried and true method. I have used multiple DIY options secured to the tree with a cam buckle strap. My favorite has been a rubber coated bike hook I bent up as a bow hook ... Genesis 3D printing is a business that makes one. You can search them. Good luck !

I bought the Tethrd HYS strap and also their Pro Pack that goes with it. The Hero clips holds a crossbow perfectly when hanging it by the "foot stirrup" part. When using my compound i have a small paracord loop tied on top of my bow and hang by one of the "S-biners" (with the bottom clip removed just like Greg from Tethrd does)... i think he has a video on that on his G2 Outdoors channel.

I use an amsteel daisy chain with a Niteize cam jam as my gear holding "strap". This allows me to use whatever carabiner, s-biner, etc. holding method I so choose. For me, I LOVE the heroclip for holding my bow. The carabiner portion of the clip will essentially lay flush against the tree (helping to prevent sway and twist), while the hook portion of the clip sticks straight out from the tree holding my bow right where I want it.

Maybe they should make the back of the steps a little concave instead of flat, so they are shaped like the tree and don’t rock around.

On our new steps we did exactly that 😀 thanks for sharing!

Nothing like some good smelly gun oil to let the deer know your there. Maybe find some odorless oil to use.

There are loads of odors coming from us humans... if i was fantatacal about scent, i would definitely look into it.. as for now I just play the wind ... if it hits their noses I'm busted plain and simple... good luck you !
