Why does it have to be so complicated, involving many steps, and going slow, when that one woman you like might then be with someone else? Ask them out if you think you both might be a good match, because her answer will likely be the exact same as if you spent weeks or months trying to flirt and build up to asking her for a date. The only things you need to do to avoid coming in cold or overly awkward are give her context around why you think you'd enjoy her company (maybe a common interest or something you noticed about her) and when you ask, be clear and calm. If she's not interested, at least you have your answer sooner. Even though it feels disappointing and sad, you can learn to let go of women who don't appreciate your effort to connect. I hope all Lesbians wanting to connect find a loving and respectful partner.
