I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income

My dividend journey began when I realized that two particular expenses in my budget were always going to go up and never go down. The two expenses were taxes and insurance. I realized that the dramatic rise in both will need some added income. So, I started buying shares paying dividends. I can now see that this will be the path I need to take to make sure those two expenses will not overtake my future income.

Normally your buy should be so great that selling feels like a forced trade either because of taxes or a change in the fundamentals (investment thesis). I’m currently focused on dividend paying (3% yield), growth rates of at-least 7%, and valuations under p/e 20x. Buying at the right price, dollar cost averaging, low turnover rates (avoid unnecessary transaction related taxation), and compounding over the long run matters the most.

My advice for dividend investors is to save for a bigger investment if you really want to retire off dividends, My major picks are SCHD and VOO and a few more that i can't mention because my FA Dianne Sarah Olson is really strict on discretion, anyway i digress, You can't expect to make a million from a thousand dollar investment that's where most people get it wrong, It's not a lottery!! Make realistic investments!! People say it's good to be greedy while investing..Yes, i agree but there's a difference between being greedy and being delusional haha. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks and made about 246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.

The most popular investment portfolio strategies include diversification, where you spread investments across different asset classes to manage risk. Another is the growth strategy, focused on capital appreciation through high-risk, high-reward assets. Income-oriented strategies target regular income from dividend stocks or bonds. Finally, there's the value strategy, seeking undervalued assets for potential long-term gains.

When it comes to situations like this, it’s wrong to engage in a single option. I suggest diversifying into various options with high performance coupled with the experience and aid of a finance Pro will generate bigger dividends and balance volatility.Thankfully, I can attest to the success of this approach seeing my portfolio of $330k grow by 85% in 3 years.

My spouse and I are adding a variety of stocks/ETF to my present holdings for the long term, We've set aside $250k to start following inflation-indexed bonds and stocks of companies with solid cash flows, I believe it is a good time to capitalize on the market for long-term gains, but it wouldn't hurt to know means of actualizing short term profit.

I looked at all 7 of your stocks and calculated the geometric average with dividends reinvested for each stock starting at the beginning of each year 2014, 2015, etc. and ending in 2023 for 10 years. I then compared these 10 data point to an index (SPY). Of these 7 stocks only one beat the index and that was HD. The other 6 stocks with 60 data point there was only one stock for one year that beat the index. it might be better to just invest in an index. Total return is the yardstick to use for success and not just dividends.

Because of dividends, I first began investing in stocks. It's important, in my opinion, to be able to live off of dividends without selling if you invest and make other income in addition to payouts. It suggests that you may pass that down to your kids and give them a leg up in life. Over the years, I've invested over $600k in dividend stocks; I continue to buy more today and will keep doing so until the price drops even further.
