Track maintenance taking place between Times Square and Hudson Yards resulted in the (7) line briefly returning to its pre-September 2015 service pattern during the overnight hours. This was the first time in quite a while that (7) trains were scheduled to officially terminate at Times Square which meant that all trains had their destination signs properly set. In addition, the in-station countdown clocks also properly displayed Times Square as the terminal (after a bit of a rough start), as did the audio announcements.
Because the R188 fleet was still undergoing delivery when the Hudson Yards station opened, there were several sets that had never regularly operated to Times Square and therefore never used that particular signage program. One of these sets (7501-05, which entered service 01/28/16), received experimental LED destination signs, and was operating during one of the nights of the Hudson Yards closure. In addition, I was able to capture R188 7815 (part of the pilot set) entering Times Square going West on the Eastbound track. When the (7) line was extended in 2015, most R188s were still with their original mates, and the A2 cars were not yet leading.
