Professor Hojo from Final Fantasy 7 should have been at least an honorary mention. The dude put alien cells inside his own unborn son, tried to breed a human with a lion, turned a normal man into a functionally immortal demon, and was generally just a completely psychotic bastard.
@riozuiderduin99289 жыл бұрын
+Lyrica Silvan Eeeyup. Hojo should have been on here for the attempted breeding stunt alone. "Let's see. I'll just put this squishy human female into a glass tube with a wild cat creature and watch 'em make babies". Besides the relative inefficiency of actual physical reproduction? Well, uh. Let's just say that anybody who knows cats knows that this would have ended VERY PAINFULLY for Aerith if it had gone as Hojo planned. And I don't mean getting mauled. One word-- "spikes". No. Two words-- "Spikes. Ouch." >_>;;; And then wanting to sit there and watch it all happen. What a freak.
@LyricaSilvan9 жыл бұрын
Rio Zuiderduin I firmly believe Hojo must have had one of those mental disorders that makes people unable to feel emotions. Why else would he have such an abject apathy toward the fact that everything he did fucked up somebody's entire existence?
@riozuiderduin99289 жыл бұрын
Lyrica Silvan This is quite possible. He doesn't even have the Jenova cells to blame for that, either (which he injected into himself as well, pretty early on). The whole mess with Professor Gast was, I believe, before he injected himself with Jenova cells.

@S0RGEx9 жыл бұрын
I feel like Dr. Lesko from Fallout 3 should've been here instead of the Vault-Tec scientists. While trying to make the giant mutant ants smaller, he completely skipped over the scientific method and instead of testing on a small group and having a control (You can actually tell him this if your science skill is high enough). And instead of making them smaller, they ended up the exact same size, except they could breathe fire. Which resulted in the entire population of Grayditch, excluding him and Bryan Wilks, getting killed by an army of fire-breathing giant ants. The entire purpose of the Vaults was to be a giant social experiment, they just so happened to also involve saving part of America's population from a massive nuclear war. Even though most of the vault experiments were total failures, that was the fault of the inhabitants of that particular vault or just bad luck, more often than not. Some were even designed to fail and were doomed from the start. So they didn't fuck up, they were just kinda fucked up.
@MegasXLM9 жыл бұрын
The problem is, Lesko probably wasn't a very learned practitioner of science, since there aren't any universities or the like in the wasteland. The Vault-Tec scientists likely were (or at least should have been).
@S0RGEx9 жыл бұрын
Eh, you don't necessarily need a degree to be considered a scientist. Besides, he seemed smart enough to know, relatively, what he was doing and most people would still consider him a scientist.
@RandomWatts9 жыл бұрын
S0RGEx Lesko turning the ants into Fire Ants wasn't done on purpose. The scientists on the list were intentionally harming others. Lesko just screwed up.
@S0RGEx9 жыл бұрын
ynyng83 Exactly. Though the title could refer to either on purpose or accidental screw ups, you could've argued that Lesko should've known better than to try and "fix" all of the ants immediately without even testing the experiment beforehand or considering the consequences. And nothing necessarily went wrong for the Vault experiments, at least nothing that wasn't supposed to, from the scientists' perspective. They planned for the majority of the vaults to eventually fail. There were no screw ups or anything on the part of Vault-Tec.
@kevins92059 жыл бұрын
By scientist, it seems they are talking about people who were very familiar will their field. Like the Half Life doctor, the man should have known better. Getting all your scientific knowledge in the wasteland makes me think he didn't qualify. The vault tech scientists knew what they were doing. They knew that most of the vault tests would end in death (Seriously have you read about the one with the panther). They fit the category perfect. They knew all the experiments would fail, so they were all obsolete.

In regards to William Birkin: I've come to the conclusion that on the Umbrella job applications, there must be a space for "known insanities", and you're required to have one to get a job in their research department. Think about it. Birkin is psychotic, his wife is neurotic, the less said about the Ashford twins the better, most of the scientists had to have been sociopathic at the very least to be willing to conduct viral experiments on non-consenting human test subjects... (or just too afraid of what Umbrella might do to them if they said "no").

Actually, *GMAN* give these guys the Crystal in which it exploded into Xen portals anyway... so yeaaah. Would you blame the tools then their crazed faulty engineers. Would you also blame the gun instead of the maniac behind it? Fuck no, it's just damn stupid. it's also lame excuse to use against tools and guns when people need them. For fuck sake, next thing you know people already blamed Barney, Shepherd, and black ơps for the damn nuke that destroyed Black Mesa (which is also *bullshit*). And Gman was freaking behind *that* bombing too, you guys *really* need to beat the games Don't blame the Scientists, Police, Security, or military for anything. 3 years late, but one thing sets apart Vault-Tec from the other ones is the scientific method. There were actual controlled variables! Sure, a lot of them seem like cruel jokes (or rehashes of older experiments, in Vault 11's case), but some of it was actual research. For example, FEV research, ghoulification research, supersolider research. Oh! And not all of it was unethical (even though in those cases it almost certainly had unforeseen consquences)!
@LadyMeiun6 жыл бұрын
While I do agree, I must still say that Vault-Tec still wins the battle against Umbrella Corp. hands down. Sure, one created zombies and other mutated abominations, but the other literally experimented on people under the guise of helping them. One of the many examples is Vault 95. Full of drug addicts, they were sold on the idea of a place where they would be forced to get clean, but instead Vault-Tec had other ideas and, after people had genuinely made real progress and almost completely kicked their habits, reintroduced a huge stash of chems and booze. And that still has nothing on Vault 75. It would take way too long to go on about that one so probably best to google it if you don't know about it.

Have you seen the DOOM timeline? I would actually give you the benefit of the doubt if it wasn't for the fact that they've done this numerous times before the latest outbreak. There's even more evidence if you take into account Wolfenstein (which is considered in the same universe). So by the point of their latest experimentation, they should have known that messing with demonic artifacts would have led to hell's minions trying to take over their facility, ESPECIALLY since it was the same company who made the exact same mistake not even a year after the first (DOOM 3 took place before the first two from Nov. 2146 to March 2147 when including the expansion pack and DOOM 1 and 2 take place in 2148, being followed up by Final DOOM and DOOM 64).
@immortalfrieza9 жыл бұрын
Maverickslayer744 It depends on what version we're talking about. In both they are simply trying to develop teleportation technology, but only in 3 do they have reason to think demons are involved. In DOOM 1 people just start mysteriously vanishing after going through the teleport or coming back crazy before demons just start coming out of the gateways out of the blue. With DOOM 3 however they are able to see monstrous creatures during teleport and start exploring long before things go to shit, so they had a little warning there.

How about Doctor Lesko from Fallout 3? He somehow makes giant ants that BREATHE fire while trying to make them smaller. This causes them to easily destroy the town of Grayditch where he had been experimenting, orphaning a little boy in the process. He's also a legendary dickhole since he absolutely refuses to take responsibility for his actions, saying that collateral damage happens in science all the time. Yeah. Cuz scientists always make things worse when trying to make them better right?
@michaelmorton56984 жыл бұрын
To clarify, the fire ants overrun Grayditch to the point where everybody else leaves except for Doc Lesko and the kid whose father was killed in their home. That isn't diminishing Lesko's role in this debacle; he took a mutated insect species in an attempt to shrink them and instead gave them the ability to project fire.

My SECOND game, though... I was pretty much ignored for the entire thing, and I'm pretty sure I got killed because someone got tired of me asking if I could help with... hell, anything, at that point. This, and the complete lack of tutorial, put me off the game. It's too bad, because this game looked really awesome.
@Zorro91298 жыл бұрын
Furymgs3 Well, higher role-play servers (such as Prospector) keep random killing to a minimum while featuring fun events. Also, if you are bored, the Colonial Marines server is based off the movie "Aliens" and has clearly defined roles. The lack of tutorial is unfortunate, but it is one of those games where player experience reigns king. It is fun to learn new things in SS13 because it is like discovering something new IRL.

Have to say though, the vaults did save people. After all, enough people survived to create a mini America and a mini Rome and have them face off over Las Vegas. That at least worked somewhat.

Videos like this is why I'm subscribed to outside xbox. Also the show of the week. The gameplay though? Not so sure. Honestly the gameplay you used to upload with challenges and set activities, like the christmas challenge series, by far exceeds the quality that is seen in outside xbox's 3 minute intro/gameplay of small indie games. Just a small suggestion.

Alexander Lipscomb Everyone's different. I prefer mowing down the assassins. For one reason, you get to creatively kill several sadists in quick succession and loot the crap out of the place afterwards; and for another, some of the assassination targets are innocent, and I never liked killing Narfi. The only characters I murder are douchebags like Slitter and Mogrul, Maven, Hemming, Braith, etc. I don't kill Nazeem because he's not exactly evil, and I've come to actually like Heimskr.
@kevgmei9 жыл бұрын

Every Last Human on these Colonies would have met the same fate that i believe to some degree would have been much like a Medieval Invasion nearly as similar to The Vikings, though Covenant were hellbent on Extermination on the Human race at the whims of their Religious Benefactors, who had since represented their orders after the fall of the Forerunners. only to resurface just recently

I have to disagree with Suchong being on this list, he was working for Frank Fontaine at the time plasmids were developed. Frank was originally a con-man from New York and his name isn't even real, he had Suchong develop the Plasmids so Frank could make a profit. The reason little sisters and big daddies exist is because that Adam was becoming more difficult to find, they needed a supply of Adam to use. Under some experiments, they found that little girls' bodies accepted Adam bonding more than any of the other's; thus, the little sisters are Adam factories. Its' inhumane but actually pretty smart, more to the point, Frank Fontaine was the one who dictated what Suchong would do so it kinda isn't Suchong's fault for doing his job.

And then, "Well, we have duct tape, rocket launchers, and captured demons... how can we combine these things...?"
