If you are just starting with watches: Don't buy a MVMT quartz watch for over a 100$. If you want the aesthetic and don't care about the fact that it's made from cheap materials and uses a quartz movement you can find almost the same watches for like 75% cheaper on like ebay or aliexpress. If you want a good watch that's maybe mechanical or automatic search "Best beginner watches" or "Cheap automatic watches for beginners" on youtube and join a watch FB group, people will be happy to help you. And if you are about to buy a MVMT watch plase first search "MVMT watch honestb review" on youtube.

Great affordable beginner automatics are the Orient ray/mako 2 or most Seiko 5 models like the snk803/snk805/snk807/snk809 (same model different colours) Both companies also have some nice dress watches :)

disagree- 34mm is a CLASSIC mens size for watches- i wear a 34mm 1990's tudor oyster prince with a suit and with jeans, i switch it between a strap and a bracelet, oh and i'm also 5ft 5 and about 260 pounds, it has a blue dial and it IS MY MOST COMPLIMENTED AND NOTICED WATCH and also the favorite watch of my fiance. i don't think it's possible to go to small, 34mm is about as small as mens watches can get, often called unisex nowadays however most vintage watches you'll find from the 50s and 60s are MENS watches, I DO AGREE it is more then possible to go to big with your watch, i have a 42mm seiko which is fine on my 7.75inch wrists, but isn't nearly as comfortable as something smaller, I also have a 45mm chronograph that is flat out to big(it was given to me as a gift) i have to wear that watch looser on the wrist. ergonomically, smaller watches are more comfortable. and in my opinion most men can pull off a 34mm-40mm watch easily and be comfortable, the bigger watch trend(42mm and up) started in the 90s when watches fell out of popularity, and where being worn more as jewelry and blinged with diamonds.

I agree with most of these rules, but I disagree that you can't talk about another man's watch. I agree that if you don't know anything, I'd steer clear, but I talk to men about their watches all the time and they literally light up telling stories about anniversaries or birthdays or graduations or weddings where they received those gifts. I think that asking to see it can be permissable if you have a personal connection already. I would never ask to try a man's watch on. Although, if they offer, I don't think it's weird to accept if you wanted to try it. There is nothing wrong about talking about his watch, never permissable to ask price.
