what I love about these guys is that they don't dumb down their playing for the video. this is really what great players are playing, and to see it in action is so helpful, even if I have to rewind it over and over again to actually pick out the notes.

I’m reminded of the intro to “So What”, where meandering harmonies are looking for something rhythmic to get the party started. Bass line to the rescue with a primeval call and response pattern that is immediately discernible as such, and they’re off and running.
