another awesome explore. The sheer determination of the 3 guys to do what they did is staggering, hope this mine is kept safe from the vandals. think we should all raise a glass to salute the work of the 3 guys and the CATMHS

The scale of this dig is hard to believe. I used to do mine trips with C.A.T. in the early 80's, it is great to see there are still people exploring and pushing these old mines. Now I live in New Zealand so I doubt I'll ever go back to the Lake district, but if I do then I'll be buying the 3 diggers a pint !!

Thanks for showcasing this Antonio, I tell you C.A.T. is where it's at. You should see Hudgill (Nenthead) and Ding-dong in Furness. Of course the D.C.C. have also done wonders at Alderley Edge, and P.D.M.H.S in Derbyshire etc. Kind regards.

As well as 7 years of work, how much money did they have to invest in getting hold of bags/steel/materials. It's a staggering amount of effort

I used to work in coal mines, some of the geology we used to see was unbelievable. Fossils of fish insects and they found a dug out canoe at 1062 yards below ground. How long had the boaters been. Fantastic place but a bit scary if you're not used to it.Hem Heath.
