We're looking back on our first 70 years on the air.

Congrats to Channel 7! It has always been the premier station in Detroit. Many of my family always watched WXYZ. However, Scripps mandates have hurt the station brand identity... You don't go from Bonds, Lewis, Timmons, Shane, Smith, Gordon, and the slew of many that made WXYZ into the powerhouse in S.E. Michigan. I need Channel 7 Action News back and give the viewers a #1 newscast! Thx you!

Interesting. I worked at WXYZ-TV in 1973 running the #2 camera (Bill & John), and was there when the station celebrated it's 25th anniversary with Soupy. I think I still have my invitation, my ID card, and blue ABC jacket.

At what point would WXYZ have ditched the RCA TK-42/43's and replaced them with TK-45A's (as were in place as of 1975-76)?

@wmbrown6 WOW. I don't remember, but for commercials we had a new RCA 2" cartridge unit where you could put a number of cartridges on a revolving "wheel". Vertical unit maybe 5' high 8' wide.
