I would never compare building a PC to buying a console. You're paying for convenience. Linus explains a little on the behalf of PCs. Mentions you can just upgrade you're PCs GPU for that price. He also mentioned that, if you try for inflation, it still isn't the most expensive console they come out with. Price of video games and their platforms needs to go up. There has been years and years of cuts backs to retain that price that the consumer is comfortable with, but it comes at a tradeoff of quality.
@ApertureApex4 ай бұрын
I might be in the minority here, but despite being more than capable of building a pc equivalent to the ps5 pro for price, having a device that's dedicated to doing one thing (well) is something I value. With pc gaming, you have to constantly micro manage your computer to ensure hardware drivers are playing nicely and windows isn't shafting your fps with background processes. Man, windows sucks. Also, some pc games just simply run badly regardless of your setup. But for many people, cheap games, the versatility of having a work + gaming machine, and modularity of hardware make it worth it. Honestly, as an infrequent gamer, when I do hop on, I prefer to sit back in a couch and not worry about the aforementioned.

One thing to note is it's unlikely for components, even for consoles, to get any cheaper in the immediate future. My read on this is that there isn’t really any major improvement needed in this console gen. As you said, there aren’t many improvements here. So when Sony was designing a mid-gen update they knew that the console would only be moderately better. Because of that they decided to price aggressively to cover their costs fully instead of taking losses on each console like they used to. These were never going to sell all that much whether they are $700 or $500 - the features just aren’t that robust. So they might as well cover their whole costs! I actually think this decision makes perfect sense from Sony’s point of view

But in about 75% of the levels of agriculture, there is an intense amount of red tape and regulation that’s occurred in the last few years really hurting people in the agriculture community. To make ends meet, prices need to go up. Again, there’s been some companies documented to do shady business but that is not the reason why consumers are feeling the added cost at the grocery store.

Given at least for PS... this really isn't an upgrade and certainly not worth that money if you already have the original system (Even then just get the standard system...). BO3 was the final year for 7th gen systems and the game was a skeleton of what it was on the 8th gen... That was 2 years after the launch of the 8th gen. Mid 8th gen came out the next year (3 years after original launch) and major titles like CoD were no longer being made for PS3/360. We're 4 years after the launch of 9th gen now.

I feel like PSSR is going to have a massive impact for the visuals on a lot of games. Because most games now are just using AMD’s FSR which unlike NVIDIA’s DLSS doesn’t use any AI to do the upscaling so you end up with a lot of image artifacts especially in motion. Not to mention a lot of newer games are using stupidly low internal rendering resolutions, like 720p in some instances, and then relying fully on FSR to upscale the game back up to 4K. So regardless of the pretty substantial bump in GPU performance I feel like not a lot of people are talking about just how impactful PSSR could be. I didn't know they increased the price of the ps5 controller

Jaytwocents built some around the same price as a ps5 pro and got the same performance with a 3060 or 4060 nvidia gpu. I can’t remember with series it was but it was the lowest tier card

Should be $599 with disc drive, but apparently Sony is tired of losing money on the console unit. So $699/sans disc drive, is what we get. I’ll wait for a sale. Lol!

Once there’s a better OS than Windows, I’ll think about a PC

I highly doubt it’s Zen 4, if it is then it’s a crazy bargain.

Inflation is actually going down, yet Sony is raising their price. Not a good idea, guys.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought Xbox already has their "premium version" of their console in the form of the series X?
@Laynel84 ай бұрын
Nope. That launched alongside the Series S as part of Microsoft's jump to 9th gen.

Not sure why we are complaining. Did you expect to get a console with those specs for $500?

They saw what people were paying scalpers. And said they need their cut.

I don't care about consoles at all. Got all good games on PC and even cheaper. Sony brings almost all exclusives to Pc so there's no reason why i should spend $700 on a plastix box. For that amount of money you can invest in a brand new gpu like upcomming nvidia 50 series

Xbox needs to have one made with good performance and no way to cheat

We have games where they are still being made for LAST GEN. That will be a massive bottleneck for the pro. It already is for the current gen!
