The chess jump from beginning like 700-800 to about 1500-1700 is way smaller of a jump than 1500-1700 to even 2000.
@wellutopia22379 ай бұрын
There is a bigger difference in skill level of 1700 to 2000. Its bigger than the skill difference of a 700 to 1500-1700. Really the only difference of a 700 and 1500 is really just blundering pieces really. Perhaps a little more calculations. Its really not a big difference in my opinion. Not as big as 1700 to 2000

I like how you acknowledge how difficult this is. There are smaller streamers who claim to hit from never playing to 2200 in a year and i believe them to be cheating. Its not reasonable. Even studying only one opening for each side along with tactics. Its extremely unlikely.

I mean, it's not impossible by any means: talking about personal experience, last year I was at about 1000 elo and just yesterday I hit 1800 rapid and still going strong. On another note, loving the content Andras, keep it up!

That's excellent. Chess ratings are more logarithmic than linear, so 1000 to 1800 is a bit easier than 1500 to 2200. Still very impressive, keep it up.

I don't know... It seems a bit like trying to start (ELO 1500) as a freshman in college on day one; and then, within one year, earn a degree in engineering IN a foreign language (ELO 2200).

I gained 1600 points in 7 months 😂

Hi Chesscoach Andras. I am trying to become a chess master too. Really love the chess journey so far. Currently I played two FIDE tournaments and my rating is currently 1512. I still have a lot to learn, but because of your Chessable courses I managed to improve a lot! Now I am grinding towards becoming a stronger chess player, by applying chess principles and the mindset shift you taught me! Thanks a lot coach and love the videos!

If you haven’t yet, and he hasn’t read it yet, I highly recommend Simple Chess is one of his assignments. I think it deserves a double exclaim!! It’s brilliant in its clarity and instruction.

It al depends on what rating you start, Ive allready shown the dutch people that above the age of 25 you can still gain 300 rating points from 1400 - 1700 within a 2 month period.

Why don't you guys focus on his OTB development? I don't get this part. He is also doing the ChessDojo training program which also underlines OTB chess.

It would be fun to go along with ben and set personal goals. I always wanted to reach 2000+ Rapid, might make my goal 2100 (lichess peak 1922, mostly a 1800 guy though)
@Mike-cp1tj10 ай бұрын
kudos to the guy managed to convince not one but TWO great chess coaches to waste their time, I'll check back on this ridiculous "goal" this time next year. Hopefully this gives enough fuel for the fire to reach 2200

Hey Andras, which website/format would you recommend for tactic training as an beginner?
@ChessCoachAndras9 ай бұрын
For tactics, books should be favoured over online resources, unless the only resource is a course based on a tactics book (such as woodpecker or forcing chess moves etc). FOr beginners my first recommendation is 'How to beat your dad at chess'. Corny title, excellent content!
@maltea11399 ай бұрын
@@ChessCoachAndras Thank you! So it's also good to do tactics via a book at Chessable (due to spaced repetition) if I understand correctly ?
@ChessCoachAndras9 ай бұрын
@@maltea1139 the main point is the fact that books have puzzles organised in a logical manner, usually by topics. General online platforms offer this not at all or very poorly. Chessable is perfect because it offers well written ,material, plus you get the spaced rep.

It's definitely not impossible if you dedicate enough time. A year ago all I knew was the rules of the game and now I'm 1900 OTB. I just trained seriously for 6+ hours a day for a couple of months, so if you train and study a lot I don't think it is impossible to get to 2200
