Hello, Ray! I own a duramax LBZ like yourself, and I have done a lot of research into the broken crankshafts some owners experience when tuning these trucks to high horsepower. Through the many forums I visited on the issue I think the main trend I see is that it is not an alternate firing camshaft that corrects this issue, but rather a billet and keyed crankshaft such as the Wagler Callies Billet Crankshaft. There have been no reports that I could find of a broken Wagler billet crank. However I was able to come across a few that had an alternate firing camshaft, when approaching high horsepower gains. Just my .02
@alldayexperience7 күн бұрын
I would like to add that there were a couple crankshafts that broke that saw the factory firing order where its hitting 3-1-2 as well as the new firing order. That could be a reason some owners saw their cranks breaking since it wasn't a new crankshaft that was exposed to a brand new firing order.

If you're not replacing the crank, be careful about changing the firing order. There has been some conjecture (not definitively proven as far as I know) that changing the firing order on a crank that has run the stock firing order for many miles can also result in a broken crank.
