Missy Elliott on the beat and songwriting. When I tell you Missy is a hitmaking machine, she is literally a hitmaking machine. So many chart toppers she produced before, during & after the peak of her career (this glorious 702 smash, Aaliyah's "I Care 4 U", Christina Aguilera's "Lady Marmalade"/"Car Wash", Mya's "My Love Is Like... Wo", Nicole Wray's "Make It Hot", Monica's "So Gone", Tweet's "Oops (Oh My)", Ciara's "1, 2 Step", Lil' Kim's "It's All about the Benjamins", SWV's "Can We", Mel B of The Spice Girls' "I Want You Back", Total's "Trippin'", Fantasia's "Free Yourself", Keyshia Cole's "Let It Go", Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F. Remix)", etc.) Missy don't play when it comes to the beats & sounds, she's got an ear of magic.

If I don't love 702 for nothing else, I love them for having the darkest sista in the front. There were & are a lot of dark lil' girls who need(ed) to see that. Hell. +booginas agreed!!!
@booginas9 жыл бұрын
If I have to explain it, then you don't even need to concern yourself with it. Clearly you don't understand how underrepresented dark girls are in the media. That's a BIG accomplishment to see a dark girl at the forefront. The music business--- like show business--- has very lil' to do with the music, & more to do with image. It's typically light-skinned girls who are placed as the lead singers of a group--- whether they can actually sing or not. If you're one of those "color-blind" people who can't see how one has anything to do with the other, then I'm gonna continue to let you live in LaLa Land by yourself.
@booginas9 жыл бұрын
Name some PROMINENT girl groups who had dark-skinned lead singers. I mean, big enough to where just about anyone one the street would know who you're talking about. And for the record, YOU'RE the one who initially responded to my original comment. So clearly, you were pressed to "make an accomplishment" as you put it. Clearly you are conceited WITHOUT a reason if you think I'd go out of my way to impress you when I don't know you from Adam's housecat. If I'm so irrelevant to your life, then simply stop responding. Problem solved.
@booginas9 жыл бұрын
I'll give you SWV & Xscape, but no one in En Vogue was dark-skinned in the least. And still, that's only 3 groups out of the plethora of Destiny's Child, TLC, Jades, 3LW'S, & other groups. But whatever. People like you find one sliver of truth to make your point & ignore all the other 99.9% of evidence that refutes your "point." But whatever. This 'dummy" is smart enough to know when to leave fools to their madness. Good day.

I know Irish and LeMisha are sisters but the close-ups in this video really highlight how much Irish and Kameelah favor each other: the bone structure, the eye shape, the gaps, etc. It's uncanny.

RIP.RIH. Irish Grinstead. You are now reunited with your twin Orish Grinstead. Angeles singing in God's heavenly choir. I didn't get to meet you, or any member of the group but I enjoyed listening to you songs. My condolences goes out to your family, close friends and all who loved you. 😔

This song will always take me back to 16 yrs old, getting ready to go out and party with my girls Jamie and Liz. This song would come on while we were curling our hair, and we'd be like, "ooooh sh***t!!! This is our soooong!" Life is sad sometimes. People change. We grow up. We grow apart. Friends pass away...that's why songs are great, to remind you of special moments in time. RIP Irish. And RIP my girl Jamie. 1/3 to our 3 musketeers. 😢😂

Rest in peace Irish. I still cant believe she has passed away too soon! I feel bad cause I never got a chance to see her!! I didnt know she was on a serious medical leave which took place last December. Been sick for a long time. I feel sorry for Lemisha lost both of her sisters, Irish son losing his mother-thats a heartbreaking tragedy. She will be missed. 702 will always forever by my favorite group of all time. Period
