7075 and 2024 are my favorite aluminum alloys. A lot of times if you are machining or pressing metals softer is not easier. The soft materials are gummy.

7075 T-6 actually presses quite well if you use TiCN coated M2 steel tooling. If you use D2 you won't have the tool very long. It forms really well too if it is a formed countersink, chamfer, or thread. It doesn't bend very good. Its a lot like AlBeMET.

Can it be used for engine pistons?

They should make ever car out of this aluminium, or stainless steel. Things these days seem to fall apart in their droves!!!! I don't understand why. Aluminium isn't that expensive, er is it?

they used to be used in cars but think about our safety haha. imagine getting in an accident and you get shredded or even impaled on metal. vs the material we use now breaks away easier to absorb impact and ofc not kill us with shrapnel. i get wanting a stronger car. but there’s situations where it’ll still get fucked up and you along with it

If your car was made of steel, and you drove it into a wall/tree, the car would end up mostly fine, but you and whoever else was inside of it would not. The car crumples so that you survive, the frame absorbing a ton of the impact.
