My Daughter now lives in Abu Dhabi , she visits Dubai maybe twice a month , I went over in October and could smell the perfumes on the traditionally dressed men as they passed . They were amazing . we need to learn Arabic perfumes . In it to win it Michael . Cheers Ade

The place i come from is called Assam in India in a very small town called Golaghat where they grow most of these Agar wood trees and we also have this tree in our very back yard . The business of Agar wood is very massive thing here , most of the families near my area is depend on these tress , it's there only means of living...😊

Coming from the whisky world, smell is SO important. And like Adam said, scents can take you places. Places, events, moments. You enter the flavor via a scene that you’ve constructed from the smell. I imagine high end scents are the same.

Guys after sometime he will come back to buy from them, trust me. I live in Qatar and when I smelled for the first time I felt same as Michael but right now I am Captivated by Oud and Arabic parfumes.

Yah, there was nothing wrong with Michael's reaction, oud is not a straightforward smell and definitely not for everybody. It is very much an acquired scent, similar to different whiskeys or cigars. Also, like Marc mentioned, most fragrances containing oud aren't even real.

I'm a beginner in the whole perfume world and wow, learning about Oud was so interesting! Can't believe that it actually comes from a fungus from ancient trees and how significant it's been throughout history. Really fascinating to listen to you and Marc discuss the perfumes with the different concentrations and compositions of Oud. Really intrigued by the Diwan, the combinations sound absolute magical!
