Another superb selection of shots Martyn. Despite the problems 71000 still displayed what a powerful beast she is. We had a breathtaking run back from Plymouth and in particular from Exeter to Bristol.

Absolutely superb record of the salient events that day. I was in the 'Duke's' support coach and the incidents on Dainton made me cringe. Hugh.

Thank you. I'd say it was about ten minutes. As the train rounds the curve you hear the Duke whistle for assistance from the diesel. But apparently the class 67 was set in the wrong mode and when the driver tried to apply power the computer shut the system down and applied the brakes. No surprise then that violent slipping resulted.

Its very good how you can get to places by car within a few places to get mainline engines, were as with me its by cycle (or by train) depending on were to go.

I've never seen the Duke struggle up a bank so badly! I had a bad feeling she nearly woulda ended up like Blue Peter in 1994

i wouldent be supprised it was gone in a second after you went though newton abbot (have a look at my video)
