The fish is actually killed very quickly once brought boatside. Since we sell these fish, the last thing we want it to do is suffer or slowly die as it would build up the lactic acid in the fish and be bad for the quality of the meat. The Japanese call it Yaki, and it is when the fish literally cooks itself in the struggle. We avoid it at all costs and quite frankly treat the fish with respect.

@TheJimDandy1 yes you have to have a commercial license to sell fish, but you can bend the rules a little bit and sell it on the side to friends, but to own a business you have to have a license

That is a beautiful beast of a fish, we’ve got monster fish here in Australia but our bluefin aren’t as big as Atlantic bluefin, guess we have to settle for 1000lb blue and black marlin, that boat is perfect for inshore fishing,I like aluminium hull but, a lot of people in oz like the aluminium

I can go find the sales receipt if you need me to. Guessing sale weight was 20-25% off 712lbs. We have caught hundreds of these fish and have no interest in distorting catch weight or prices. That has been done enough on national TV!!!

Neighboring boat onlookers are novice anglers! 700lbs... Could be or damn near or maybe more! The 400 lb guess is ridiculous! There at lease two 200lb guys on board and that Slob dwarfs them! All in all.... Great catch guys! You handled it well and shows you know what you're doing!
