Great Kit. If you have a BIG LOTS near you.. they carry a bunch of JUST ADD WATER things that would be a great addition to a kit like that. also in lieu of paper plates and solo cups you could use plastic plates and tumblers.. yes you would have to wash after meals but less waste and take up less room perhaps?? Thanks for taking the time to share your setup

Prepping2endure As a suggestion, you can also use the liquid in the canned foods to rehydrate dry foods instead of using your good water. Also, remove the card board in the paper towels for more room or replace them all together with dish cloths or wash cloths.

I will have to check out my local big lots. Thanks for the tip. I'm sticking with the disposables though because of the water issue. I appreciate the input. Be Well Friend... InteliGear.

Survivor Jane Washcloths and dish rags are a great idea. Then I could condense one roll of paper towels and leave out the other. We usually drain off the liquid, Another great idea. Especially if you combine the two later into one dish so as not to throw off the flavor of the dehydrated food. Thank You for the Good Tips! Be Well Friend... InteliGear.

InteliGear Yes! So many just cook a can of green beans in the liquid and then discard the liquid. You can actually use it to make some rice or instant potatoes too! Or yes, even drink it. #PrepperTalk

hey guy, thanx for the food ideas :) I'm with u on the cliff bars, no cook foods r important and easy grab... :) I had a thought to share, I found that i preferred packing just personal care wipes (unscented baby wipes, actually) because they are already moistened and a good bit more sturdy. they work well for a multitude of uses, kitchen, Bathroom, hygiene etc.... just my preference, perhaps worthy of consideration. I really like you pointing out that the kit needs to be handle-able for anyone in the family.... nice job. :)

Thanks and good idea on the wipes. Something else along those lines would be hand sanitizer. Be Well Friend... InteliGear.

There's obviously not enough water, but you would probably supplement this with a couple of big water containers like the aqua trainer or a mil surplus 20 liter. It looks good. I like the idea of the coleman stove as a primary. A gallon or two of the fuel could easily last 72hrs.

Exactly the water included in the box is more for quick use / convenience until you can break open the 5 gal. jug. Although water and food go hand in hand I mentally separate them. Water being 1st in importance followed by Food. Runtime on a full tank for my stove is 2 hours on high so I would say 1 gallon of fuel should be plenty. Keeping in mind we are heating not cooking this food. Thanks for the input Friend... InteliGear.

Add some couscous, especially the smallest sized couscous. You can cold-soak it in cold water very easily if you run out of fuel to boil water.
